  • Patent number: 11946338
Abstract: A control valve assembly includes a body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A portion of the body is formed from a first magnetic material. A sleeve is slidingly mounted to the body. At least a portion of the sleeve is formed from a second magnetic material. A magnetic circuit having a gap is defined within the control valve assembly. A solenoid is mounted to the body about at least a portion of the first magnetic material of the body. The solenoid is selectively activated to create a magnetic field across the gap in the magnetic circuit. The magnetic circuit causes the sleeve to slide, narrowing the gap and sliding from the first position to the second position to produce a pressure pulse in the wellbore, wherein the biasing member biases the sleeve back to the first position.

  • Patent number: 11169300
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a gamma logging detector assembly that includes a detector support structure comprising one or more high density alloy materials and including a first cylindrical drill collar segment and a second cylindrical drill collar segment each having a radius of at least R1. A third cylindrical drill collar segment is disposed axially between the first and second cylindrical drill collar segments to form an annular channel over the third cylindrical drill collar segment and between the first and second cylindrical drill collar segments. The third cylindrical drill collar segment includes an inwardly defined open cavity and a radius, R2, that is less than R1. • Patent number: 10669812
Abstract: A control valve assembly includes a body having a mud flow passage provided with a mud flow inlet and a mud flow outlet, a magnetic sleeve slidingly mounted to the body, and a solenoid mounted to the body adjacent the magnetic sleeve. The solenoid being selectively activated to shift the magnetic sleeve between a first position covering the mud flow outlet and a second position exposing the mud flow outlet allowing a pulse of mud to flow through the mud flow passage.

  • Patent number: 10436025
Abstract: A control valve assembly for a downhole wellbore including a body formed partially from a magnetic material. A plunger is moveably mounted in the body. A portion of the plunger is formed from a magnetic material. A magnetic circuit having a gap is arranged within the control valve assembly. The portion of the body formed from a magnetic material defines a first portion of the magnetic circuit and the portion of the plunger formed from magnetic material forms another portion of the magnetic circuit. A solenoid is mounted at the body and is selectively activated to create a magnetic field across the gap in the magnetic circuit causing the plunger to move thereby narrowing the gap to produce a pressure pulse in the wellbore.

A magnetic plunger is slidingly mounted within the body. The magnetic plunger includes one or more third mud flow passage portions each including an inlet section and an outlet section configured to selectively align with the one or more second mud flow passage portions. A solenoid is mounted at the body. The solenoid is selectively activated to shift the magnetic plunger between a first position wherein the third mud flow passage portion is misaligned with the one or more second mudflow passage portions and a second position wherein the third mud flow passage portion aligns with the one or more second mud flow passage portions allowing a pulse of mud to flow through the mud flow passage.
