In an example, a first user can access a first interface to invite a second user to communicate via the communication platform. In response to input from the first user via the first interface, the communication platform can generate an invitation for the second user to communicate with the first user and can provide the invitation to the second user, such as by causing the invitation to be presented via a second interface. The second user can submit a response to the invitation via the second interface. The communication platform can update the first interface and the second interface based on response, such as, in examples in which the second user accepts the invitation, to reflect a newly established connection between the first user and the second user.
