  • Patent number: 12191666
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods directed to improved power system stabilization and oscillation damping control. In operation, a computing device may receive frequency data from a plurality of sensors distributed within a power system. The computing device may calculate an estimate of a speed of a center of inertia signal based at least on the frequency data. A controller may calculate a control error signal for the power system based at least on the estimated speed of the center of inertia signal. The controller may further calculate an auxiliary output signal based at least on the calculated control error. An actuator may utilize the auxiliary output signal to provide an output configured to improve the stability of the power system.

  • Patent number: 10733987
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices related to providing content items from a collection of content items. The embodiments disclosed enhance user experience by keeping track of which content items were already played to a user, and skipping those content items automatically. The embodiments disclosed herein also can enable a user to limit playing of content items to those that have been added since the last time contents items from the collection of content items were played. If the user selects to receive additional content items after receiving the newly added items, the system can provide the older unplayed content items after the newly added content news items have been played.

  • Patent number: 9695078
Abstract: A roll for use in glass manufacture, such as in the production of non-dusting TFT glass, includes a hollow silica cylinder. A rod extends through the interior of the silica cylinder. A cooling volume is contained within the cylinder and extends around the rod. End caps are mechanically fixed to the roll. Pulling flats are fixed in place by inner and outer end plates. A compression fitting secures at least the outer end plate to the roll. The rod may serve to reinforce the roll and may be secured to the shaft by a plurality of supports. The supports accommodate differences in thermal expansion.

  • Publication number: 20150284308
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods for preparing urushiol from plants including, for example, poison ivy or poison oak. The methods include extraction of plant material using a primary organic solvent more polar than ethanol, followed by a solvent extraction using substantially immiscible solvents having substantially different polarities, such as hexane and acetonitrile. The method can include further purification, such as by fractionation of solvent-extracted materials using a thiazole-derivatized silica gel chromatography medium. The extracts thus generated can exhibit greater purity, higher concentration, and greater stability than extracts made using previously-known methods. The extracts can be particularly suitable for use in immunotherapeutic methods, such as desensitizing individuals who normally develop allergic contact dermatitis attributable to poison ivy or poison oak.

  • Patent number: 8988066
Abstract: A sensor circuit for use with a shaft assembly rotatably mounted in a housing and having an input shaft, an output shaft and a torsion bar which connects the input and output shafts together. A CR coil mounted to the housing around the shaft assembly is energized and generates an electromagnetic field. An RX coil is mounted to and rotates with the shaft assembly and has an output connected to a power circuit to generate electrical energy when excited by the electromagnetic field from the first coil. The power circuit powers an angle sensor which transmits a signal back to the first coil representative of the angle between the input and output shafts.

  • Patent number: 8947077
Abstract: A rotary position sensor having a transmitter coil excited by a high frequency signal source. A first and second receiver coil, each having at least two oppositely wound loops, are rotatably positioned electrically 90 degrees relative to each other. The receiver coils are positioned so as to be inductively coupled with the transmitter coil while a coupler constructed of an electrically conductive material is rotatably positioned over and inductively coupled with the first and second receiver coils. The outputs from the first and second receiver coils are coupled through a high pass filter and a low pass filter, respectively, thus creating a 90° phase shift in the resultant signals. These signals are summed together and coupled as an input signal to a PWM circuit together with a signal from the transmitter coil.
