  • Publication number: 20060241804
Abstract: The present invention comprises methods of machining a workpiece. In one embodiment, a method includes positioning a workpiece in a first position in a process station of a machine system, and forming at least one check feature on the workpiece. A position of the check feature is then sensed while the workpiece is positioned in the first position, and one or more machined features are formed on the workpiece relative to the check feature while the workpiece is positioned in the first position. The workpiece is then moved from the first position to a second position within the process station, and a position of the check feature is again sensed while the workpiece is positioned in the second position. One or more machined features are then formed on the workpiece relative to the check feature while the workpiece is positioned in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20060070345
Abstract: Reinforced structural assemblies and methods for forming such assemblies are disclosed. In one embodiment, a ribbed portion includes rib segments having a vertical height that extend laterally between junctions to form a network coupled to a supporting substrate. The rib segments include a plurality of flanged portions coupled to a lateral edge of the rib segments. In another embodiment, the ribbed portion includes rib segments having flanged portions on opposing lateral edges that receive opposing substrates. Similarly, a method includes forming a ribbed portion having a plurality of rib segments extending laterally between junctions. The rib segments include a plurality of flanged portions on at least one of the first and second lateral edges. First and second substrates are coupled to opposing sides of the ribbed portion.

  • Publication number: 20060071124
Abstract: Reinforced structural assemblies and methods for forming such assemblies are disclosed. In one embodiment, a reinforced structural assembly includes an engagement portion having at least one projecting structure extending outwardly from the engaging structure, and a receiving portion having at least one recessed structure that slidably receives and fixably retains the projecting structure. In another embodiment, a method for constructing a reinforced structural assembly includes positioning at least one projecting structure on a first substrate, positioning at least one recessed structure on a second substrate. The at least one projecting structure and the at least one recessed structure are slidably coupled and fixably secured.

  • Publication number: 20060070501
Abstract: A precision shear is provided which allows the removal of material from a machined part. The shear provides a precision cut that requires little or no finish grinding or polishing thereby reducing the time required to produce a machined part. The precision shear may be operated by hand or attached to a machine.
