  • Patent number: 7488006
Abstract: A coupling assembly includes a first coupling member having a first exterior surface and a second exterior surface spaced from the first exterior surface by a rib having a first locking surface. A second coupling member includes an inwardly facing surface sized to receive the first coupling member and an inwardly facing annular groove having a second locking surface. The groove is configured to reduce stress risers in the second coupling member. A resiliently expandable locking ring is received in the inwardly facing annular groove and is engaged and expanded to a larger radial size by the rib upon movement of the first coupling member further into the second coupling member. The resiliently expandable locking ring is configured to retract in diametrical size to become trapped between the first locking surface and the second locking surface upon further movement of the first coupling member into the second coupling member.

  • Publication number: 20080073261
Abstract: An inline filter fitting is provided that includes a filter, a first member having a bore configured to house the filter, and a second member removably connected to the first member. In one embodiment, the inline filter fitting includes a first connector configured to connect to a first hose and a second connector configured to connect to a second hose.

  • Publication number: 20080030025
Abstract: A coupling assembly including first and second members arrangeable between uncoupled and coupled positions. The first member has a receiving portion sized to receive at least a portion of the second member and internal threads provided therein. The second member has an exterior surface. A ratcheting locking member is disposed about the exterior surface of the second member and configured to move between locking and releasing positions. The ratcheting locking member is also biased to the locking position and has a retaining formation configured to mesh with and engage the internal threads of the first member. Upon insertion of the second member into the first member, the retaining formation of the ratcheting locking member progressively engages the internal threads of the first member, thereby locking the first and second members together.

  • Patent number: 6425571
Abstract: A valve for controlling fluid flow is provided. The valve includes an actuating stem for controlling the flow of fluid through the valve, a valve member with a positioning formation and an opening for permitting fluid flow, a valve body portion, and at least one insert or compressor for retaining the valve member within the valve body portion. The valve body portion is comprised of a formable material—such as a metal—that is formed about the valve member in connection with an applied load. The valve body portion further includes a first open end with a first diameter; a second open end with a second diameter that is sufficiently large enough to permit insertion of the valve member; a stem opening for receiving the actuation stem; and an internal member-receiving portion for receiving the valve member in proximity with the stem opening.

  • Patent number: 6092570
Abstract: An improved drain coupling of the type having a male coupling half including a body having an inner body end and an outer body end. A passage axially extends through the body intersecting the body ends. A valve is axially reciprocally mounted within the passage between a closed position and an open position for regulating flow of fluid through the passage. The improvement includes, among other things, a valve having a first valve end adjacent to the inner body end and a second valve end adjacent to the outer body end. The valve has a central portion positioned at a center of the valve adjacent to the second valve end.
