  • Patent number: 12000924
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a first and second coherent radar system on a first chip configured to operate in a terahertz range to provide a frequency modulated continuous wave, and having a first and second field of view, respectively. The apparatus further comprises a first processor in communication with the first coherent radar system and configured to include instructions to send a first signal to the first coherent radar system to scan a target with the first field of view, and a second processor in communication with the second coherent radar system and configured to collaborate with the first processor, and further configured to include instructions to send a second signal to the second coherent radar system to scan a target within the second field of view.

  • Patent number: 11982734
Abstract: A method comprises performing, by a first coherent radar system on a chip configured to operate in a terahertz range between 0.1 THz and 1 THZ, a first radar scan of a target, the first coherent radar system being in physical contact with a first non-physical scanning device. The first non-physical scanning device then receives first scanning data from the first radar scan, and sends a coordination signal to a second non-physical scanning device. A second coherent radar system on a chip configured to operate in the terahertz range performs a second radar scan of the target, the second coherent radar system being in physical contact with the second non-physical scanning device. The second non-physical device receives second scanning data from the second radar scan, and the first and second scanning data are sent to a processor for a determination as to whether an impermissible object has been detected.

  • Publication number: 20230204757
Abstract: A system comprises a personal device such as one used by law enforcement, and a housing containing a portable radar system with both a ranging resolution and lateral resolution sufficient to detect an object concealed on a person (e.g., one that operates in the THz range), where the housing is configured to be mounted in contact with the personal device such that when mounted, the combined handheld device and housing have a form factor that allows it to retain its characteristic as a personal device, and where the portable radar system is configured to, when in operation, emit a radar beam and to receive a reflection of the emitted radar beam.

  • Publication number: 20220260705
Abstract: A system for scanning targets for concealed objects comprises a set of analog imaging components of a portable radar system with both a ranging resolution and lateral resolution sufficient to detect an object concealed on a person, where the analog imaging components are contained with a first housing and in communication with digital processing components contained in a second housing, where the digital processing components are configured to receive imaging information from the analog components for processing. Each housing is configured to be attached to a user's article of equipment.

  • Publication number: 20210405179
Abstract: A method comprises scanning a subject with a coherent radar beam from a single chip operating in the terahertz range, and executing instructions, on a processor, to create one or more digital images based said scanning. One or more digital images are combined at the processor to form a super image, and based on the super image, the processor determines whether the subject is carrying a concealed object. if the subject is determined to be carrying a concealed object, and certain alert-generating rules are met, an alert is generated.
