  • Patent number: 12539592
Abstract: Power tools described herein include an electric motor, a driver blade, a trigger switch, a safety switch, and an electronic controller. The electronic controller is connected to the electric motor, the trigger switch, and the safety switch. The electronic controller is configured to initiate a retraction cycle by controlling the electric motor to move the driver blade from a first position to a second position, determine a position of the driver blade during the retraction cycle, initiate, in response to the position of the driver blade exceeding a first threshold, a braking cycle at the electric motor, and abort, in response to detecting a first activation of the trigger switch and a second activation of the safety switch, the braking cycle.

  • Publication number: 20250150078
Abstract: A power tool including a housing, a trigger disposed on an outside of the housing, the trigger including a magnet, a motor within the housing, the motor configured to produce a rotational output to a drive mechanism, a Hall effect sensor configured to sense a position of the trigger based on a proximity of the magnet to the Hall effect sensor, and an electronic controller connected to the Hall effect sensor. The electronic controller is configured to determine the position of the trigger based on a signal from the Hall effect sensor and control the drive mechanism based on the position of the trigger.

  • Publication number: 20250065482
Abstract: A power tool including a housing, a motor at least partially positioned within the housing, a driver blade extending along a driving axis, and a cam assembly including a cam that is configured to rotate about a rotational axis to move the driver blade. The cam includes a target that rotates with the cam. A sensor is configured to detect the target when the target is at a predetermined rotational position of the cam. A controller is connected to the motor and the sensor. The controller is configured to receive a signal from the sensor indicating that the target is at the predetermined rotational position of the cam, compare a motor parameter to a threshold value, and initiate a speed ramp down in response to the target being at the predetermined rotational position of the cam and the motor parameter being greater than or equal to the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20240421733
Abstract: A power tool that includes a housing, a brushless motor, a power switching circuit, and an electronic controller. The brushless motor is within the housing. The brushless motor includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor is coupled to a motor shaft arranged to rotate about a longitudinal axis. The motor shaft is arranged to produce a rotational output to a drive mechanism. The power switching circuit provides a supply of power from a battery pack to the brushless motor. The electronic controller is configured to determine a parameter associated with the battery pack, assign a classification to the battery pack based on the determined parameter, and control field weakening applied to the brushless motor based on the classification of the battery pack.

  • Publication number: 20240408731
Abstract: A powered fastener driver including a housing, a cylinder, a piston movable within the cylinder from a TDC position to a BDC position, a driver blade attached to the piston for movement therewith along a driving axis from the TDC position toward the BDC position for driving a fastener into a workpiece, a lifter operable to move the piston and driver blade, in unison, from the BDC position toward the TDC position, a drive unit operably coupled to the lifter, and a printed circuit board (PCB) positioned within the housing. The PCB receives electrical current from the battery pack and includes power switches for commutating the motor. The PCB defines a length and a width, and a vibration attenuating damper is positioned between the housing and the printed circuit board. The damper is positioned along the length of the PCB and is configured to support the PCB within the housing.
