Patent number: 9655659Abstract: Anchor towers useful in the alteration of a position of an item connected to an anchor are described. An anchor tower includes an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve disposed over and operably connected to the inner sleeve such that movement of the outer sleeve results in movement of the inner sleeve. A groove is disposed on the inner sleeve and an inwardly-extending projection is disposed on the outer sleeve. Relative movement between the inner and outer sleeves results in movement of the projection within the groove. This movement can produce desired movement of a portion of the inner sleeve, such as a distal arm, based on a structural configuration of the groove.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2013Date of Patent: May 23, 2017Assignee: DeGen Medical, Inc.Inventors: Craig Black, Willie S. Publication number: 20160287236Abstract: Devices, systems and surgical methods for achieving surgical access to a site within the body, particularly the spine. The system includes a modular retractor with a body and hood that are independently operable at their proximal ends to manipulate soft tissue at their distal ends, and may be adjustably and releasably coupled to form an open channel to a target tissue. On insertion, the hood is at least partially compressed against the retractor body. When coupled, the retractors are displaced from one another and constrained to one or more of at least three degrees of freedom, movable pivotally around a proximal end pivot axis that is perpendicular to the channel to adjust displacement of the retractors at their distal ends, displaceable vertically to adjust the distance between the retractors at their proximal ends, and slidable horizontally along the channel axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2015Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventors: Javier Garcia-Bengochea, John Souza, Marc von Amsberg, Ryan Lewis

Patent number: 9428297Abstract: A plastic container having a longitudinal axis includes an upper portion that defines an opening into the container and a sidewall portion that extends from the upper portion in a longitudinal direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. The container also includes a base portion that extends from the sidewall portion and that closes off the container. The upper portion further includes a rim member, a neck member that extends in the longitudinal direction away from the rim member, and a shoulder member that extends from the neck to the sidewall portion. The shoulder member extends at an acute angle relative to a transverse plane that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The upper portion also includes at least one reinforcing member that extends in the longitudinal direction between the rim member and the shoulder member. The reinforcing member projects outwardly from the neck member.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2013Date of Patent: August 30, 2016Assignee: Amcor LimitedInventors: Matthew Ryan Lewis, James Clayton Gratke, George Alex Thierjung
