  • Patent number: 8734450
Abstract: There is provided a surgical saw blade for use in orthopaedic surgery. The saw blade comprising: a mounting cavity having a first substantially triangular-shaped opening and a second substantially triangular-shaped opening in communication with, and inverted relative to, the first opening, the first and second opening collectively define two mounting slots that form an angle relative to one another. In some embodiments, the planar portion further comprises an offset planar shelf. The offset shelf may be oriented along the length of the planar portion to allow for longitudinal reciprocation or may be oriented across the width of the planar portion to allow for lateral reciprocation.

  • Publication number: 20130342653
Abstract: Cargo presence detection systems and methods are described herein. One cargo presence detection system includes one or more sensors positioned in an interior space of a container, and arranged to provide spatial data about at least a portion of the interior space of the container and a detection component that receives the spatial data from the one or more sensors and identifies if one or more cargo items are present in the interior space of the container based on analysis of the spatial data.

  • Publication number: 20130226190
Abstract: Systems and methods for optimizing parameters of an orthopaedic procedure for a particular patient, including parameters relating to the anatomic and biomechanic fit of an implant or implant system implanted into the patient's joint. These systems and methods may utilize patient-specific information gathered pre-operatively in conjunction with optimization algorithms to determine an optimal implant design and an optimal position and orientation for implantation of the implant into the particular patient's joint.

  • Publication number: 20130166034
Abstract: There are provided various embodiments of medical instruments to perform knee surgery. In one embodiment a finned platform for mounting a cutting block is provided. The finned platform can be used don either a femor or tibia to allow for the proper cuts when performing a knee surgery. In another embodiment, a tibial trial is shown having a fin. The fin is useful to reinforce the bone to reduce the risk of fracture during bone preparation. In another embodiment, a reamer is provided having a plurality of cutting flutes. It may be desirable to utilize a guide with the reamer to allow the reamer to cut a noncircular portion of the tibial bone. In yet another embodiment, a plurality of fixation pegs are provided on the tibial implant to allow for easy removal of such implant if a revision surgery becomes necessary.
