  • Patent number: 8863022
Abstract: Two different process management views can be displayed, and a user can request to switch between the two views. The user can select a process in either view and have the selected process terminated. One view is a simplified view that identifies processes and whether they are non-responsive. The other view is an expanded view that identifies processes and the amount of various system resources used by each of those processes. Various additional information can be displayed in the expanded view, such as identifiers of various windows, tabs, and/or services associated with each of the processes.

  • Publication number: 20120102407
Abstract: An indication of a remaining battery life currently available based on a current resource setting for a resource of a computing device is displayed. A user input to change the resource to a new resource setting is received, and in response to the user input an indication of the remaining battery life currently available based on the new resource setting is identified and an indication of the remaining battery life currently available based on the new resource setting is displayed. In situations where the resource is a screen of the computing device, the new resource setting can be a new screen brightness setting, and the screen brightness can be changed concurrently with displaying the remaining battery life currently available based on the new screen brightness setting.

  • Patent number: 7818575
Abstract: An efficient protocol for retrieving cryptographic evidence may be selected by evaluating a local policy and a number of relevant factors. Furthermore, updated cryptographic evidence may be prefetched during a time period in which there is a low volume of requests for cryptographic evidence. This low volume time period may be defined, approximately, as an overlapping window in which both a first cryptographic evidence publication and a second cryptographic evidence publication are valid.

  • Patent number: 7793096
Abstract: A method is provided for use in a computer system including a client and a health registration authority. The health registration authority is configured to accept requests for assertions, and the client has a health state described by at least one health claim. The method may include an act of including an indication of the at least one health claim of the client in a request for an assertion. A second method is provided for use in a computer system comprising a client, an assertion authority, and a plurality of health policies. The method can include an act of including an indication of at least one health policy that the health claim of the client satisfies in an assertion.

  • Publication number: 20100218260
Abstract: Strategies are described for validating content transferred over a communication channel using a more effective approach than heretofore provided in the art. A content registration authority is provided which registers the content disseminated by one or more content providers to one or more client devices. A client device which receives content that has been registered can securely consume the content, based on an assumption that a content provider which furnishes the content is entrusted by the content registration authority to provide the content, and without prompting a user of the client device to expressly approve the content provider. In a first solution, the content registration authority registers the content by issuing a certification stamp; in a second solution, the content registration authority registers the content by storing registration information in a central repository. The content may contain instructions which perform operations in the context of an instant messenger application.
