  • Patent number: 10140545
Abstract: The techniques introduced here include a system and method for transcoding multimedia content based on the results of content analysis. The determination of specific transcoding parameters, used for transcoding multimedia content, can be performed by utilizing the results of content analysis of the multimedia content. One of the results of the content analysis is the determination of image type of any images included in the multimedia content. The content analysis uses one or more of several techniques, including analyzing content metadata, examining colors of contiguous pixels in the content, using histogram analysis, using compression distortion analysis, analyzing image edges, or examining user provided inputs. Transcoding the multimedia content can include adapting the content to the constraints in delivery and display, processing and storage of user computing devices.

  • Publication number: 20100229218
Abstract: A system and method for managing requests for system resources from a plurality of users. Usage data is maintained for each user with respect to a user quota and a system quota. Aggregate system usage data is also maintained. A user request is checked for compliance with a user quota. The request is checked for compliance with a system quota. If either quota is not complied with, a hint that indicates when to send a next request is determined and sent to the user. Compliance with the system quota may include use of a reservation system, in which the allowance of a request may be based on a user's system usage data, so that a user with lower usage is more likely to have a request accepted when the system is loaded.

  • Publication number: 20070225790
Abstract: Disclosed is an ostial stent positioner that has the form of a wire for most of its length and having a short cylinder with expandable legs situated at the positioner's distal end. The cylinder with its attached wire acts as an introducer sheath to introduce a stent delivery system with a stent into the artery that is to be stented. A second aspect of the present invention is a method for accurately placing a stent at the ostium of an artery that would have an ostial stenosis. Examples of such arteries that have ostial stenoses are the right and left main coronary arteries, a saphenous vein graft as used in coronary bypass surgery and the renal arteries. Also disclosed are designs for the short cylinder that have a variable diameter so as to fit snugly within guiding catheters having different inside diameters.

  • Publication number: 20070004481
Abstract: A team sport entertainment simulation game-play innovation that enables the user to optionally choose the offensive or defensive player to control prior to the start of the play regardless of ball possession and to control that player until the play terminates, or for a portion of the play until the user cancels the player specific mode. The user is expected to perform the characteristic behavior of the controlled player's position (e.g. quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive back, etc. in the example of the team sport of football). Missions, which describe the characteristic behavior of the position, provide goals and incentives to play the position properly or in another manner. Upon completion of the tasks outlined in the missions the user is rewarded with player attribute upgrades that increase the player's odds of winning the game.

  • Patent number: 6259287
Abstract: A regulated voltage supply contains a zener diode controlled by a constant current generator to maintain the zener voltage at a constant level regardless of the swings of the voltage input to the diode. A current amplifier responds to the constant current generator to maintain the output voltage of the regulated voltage supply at the value of the zener voltage regardless of the demands of the load. A low voltage inhibit circuit responds to the magnitude of the input voltage and the magnitude of the voltage on the zener diode to generate a binary voltage signal for inhibiting the operation of a load such as a microcomputer when the voltage regulator is below the zener voltage level and the input is below the desired voltage.

  • Patent number: 6242821
Abstract: A passive processing circuit for processing a ground side switch closure to a CMOS input (20) of an MCU, particularly useful in a D.C. electrical system where ground offsets may occur, such as in an automotive vehicle. Three resistors (R1, R2, R3) are connected between supply and ground potentials of a D.C. power supply voltage (10). The junction of two (R1, R2) connects to an output (16) of a grounded input switch (12). The junction of two (R2, R3) connects to the CMOS input (20). A fourth resistor (R4) connects between the bi-directional input/output (22) of the MCU and the junction of the second and third resistors. The MCU executes an algorithm that selectively allows and disallows the resistor (R4) to coact with the second and third resistors. The circuit provides a cost-efficient solution for extending the range of supply line voltage over which a CMOS input can correctly read a switch closure.

  • Patent number: 5945745
Abstract: A detector and battery switch control energy flow from a battery in a vehicle to an electronic module. The vehicle ignition switch controls battery energy flow when the ignition switch is on and the detector and battery switch control battery energy flow when the ignition switch is off. A dimming circuit provides a dimming signal when a demand for energy is made, such as when the headlights are turned on with the ignition switch turned off. The detector senses the dimming signal and operates a battery switch to power up a microprocessor controller from an unpowered state to control operation of the module when the demand for energy is made. There is no sleep mode. A response is made directly to the demand for energy and there is no battery power used until a demand is made for battery energy.
