  • Publication number: 20230363843
Abstract: A small diameter surgical tool implements an agonist-antagonist deflectable joint. The deflectable joint is an actuatable bendable structure that uses push-pull, agonist-antagonist action of a pair of nested tubes to actuate the joint. The tubes are designed to have non-central, offset neutral axes, and they are fixed together at locations distal to the deflectable joint, such as at their distal ends. Axial translations of the tubes relative to each other causes a push-pull, agonist-antagonist action between the tubes, which causes the deflectable joint to bend. In one implementation, a deflectable joint can be created in nested tubes by configuring radial portions of the tube sidewalls extending along the joint to have an axial region of reduced stiffness. As a result, axial agonist-antagonist motion between the tubes can cause bending of the deflectable joint.

  • Publication number: 20230173234
Abstract: Various aspects of methods, systems, and use cases may be used to inflate a balloon catheter using a syringe. The syringe may include a channel portion shaped to create a channel, and a plunger, for example including an inserted end and a free end, which when inserted in the channel to place the inserted end at a plunger starting position, causes a starting pressure to be applied to the balloon catheter. In an example, the channel portion or the plunger includes at least one visual indicia indicating the plunger starting position, the plunger starting position located along an insertion axis (e.g., of the channel portion and the plunger).

  • Publication number: 20230069687
Abstract: Systems, methods, and executable programs for providing lung candidacy information to health care professionals. In an illustrative embodiment, a valve planning tool including a flexible shaft having a distal end and a proximal end, and a plurality of flexible sizing elements configured to be attachable to the flexible shaft. The flexible sizing elements are extendable radially from the flexible shaft when in a deployed state and at least partially foldable around a longitudinal axis of the flexible sizing elements when in a retracted state.

  • Publication number: 20210386568
Abstract: A valve loading system that uses a valve loader to transfer a valve or other medical device from a storage cartridge into a deployment catheter. The valve or other medical device can be implanted or positioned within a patient using the catheter after the valve or other medical device has been compressed and loaded into the catheter using the valve loader. The process then can be repeated by using the valve loading system to load or introduce another valve or other medical device into the catheter. The valve loading system includes a loading pin sized to limit contact with the medical device during a loading procedure.
