  • Patent number: 10638104
Abstract: A device, system and method for generating updated camera-projector correspondences from a reduced set of test patterns is provided. When a predetermined correspondences between projector points and camera points in an initial relative position of a projector and a camera have been previously determined, a recalibration therebetween may occur by projecting a single test pattern derived from the predetermined correspondences to estimate movement therebetween. When the movement is too great to be estimated by a single test pattern, another test pattern may be projected to determine an estimation function for the movement and in particular, estimate movement of one or more camera points in the projected images due to relative movement of the projector and the camera from the initial relative position to a current relative position.

  • Patent number: 10271028
Abstract: A device, system and method for subliminally projecting structured light patterns is provided. A computing device alters at least a portion of a plurality of content bitplanes to subtract a structured light bitplane therefrom, such that pixels of the structured light bitplane and the plurality of content bitplanes, when altered, sum to a same respective brightness as corresponding pixels of the plurality of content bitplanes before alteration. A a projector projects the structured light bitplane and the plurality of content bitplanes having the structured light bitplane subtracted therefrom. A camera captures images of the structured light bitplane as projected by the projector, for example to calibrate the projector.

  • Publication number: 20180139423
Abstract: A system and method for digital black level blending is provided. The system comprises: projectors located to project respective images, onto a screen, that overlap in one or more overlap regions; at least one camera; and a computing device configured to, for each given projector: determine, using the at least one camera, respective correspondences between projected points of a given image, projected onto the screen by the given projector, and respective points of respective image modulators of other projectors of the projectors, the respective correspondences representing the respective points of the respective image modulators of the other projectors that correspond to overlap regions; determine respective brightness of the overlap regions; and, control pixels of an image modulator of the projector, and each of the respective image modulators, at least adjacent edge pixels corresponding to edges of overlap regions, to increase brightness in corresponding image regions using the respective brightness.

  • Patent number: 9872003
Abstract: A system and method for aligning stacked projectors is provided. A computing device is in communication with at least two projectors, configured to project images stacked onto each other, and at least one sensor configured to acquire respective images the projector images. Respective initial positions in a common space are determined of each of the projector images, from the sensor images, as well as a virtual projector image located at a common target position. Respective transforms for each of the projector images to one or more of shift and transform the projector images to the common target position of the virtual projector image. The respective transforms are applied to further first projector images to produce respective transformed projector images. The projectors are controlled to project the respective transformed projector images according to the common target position.
