  • Patent number: 7078645
Abstract: A machining-fluid ejection device for a wire electric discharge machining apparatus includes a nozzle for ejecting machining-fluid into an inter-electrode gap between a workpiece (W) and a wire electrode (E), a casing (16) fixed to a machining head (15) disposed above or below the workpiece (W), a coupling member (18) for coupling the casing (16) and a nozzle (17), having a predetermined elastic coefficient, and deforming according to the machining-fluid pressure; an assemblage of the coupling member (18) and the nozzle (17) has hollow portions, formed with an inlet side internal diameter (D2) and an outlet side internal diameter (D1) on a machining-fluid inlet side and outlet side respectively, whose sectional areas do not change, and a hollow portion, formed with a minimum internal diameter (D0) between the machining-fluid inlet side and the outlet side, whose sectional area does not change. Machining productivity may be raised for nozzle contact machining and nozzle separation machining.

  • Patent number: 6914186
Abstract: A work liquid storage apparatus of an electric discharge machine having a work tank (2) for storing a work liquid (5) supplied by work liquid supply (6) with a workpiece (4) placed in the work liquid (5), the work tank having an opening (2a), a door (12) for opening and closing the opening (2a), and a seal member (10) for hermetically sealing space between the work tank (2) and the door (12) includes support plates (13) each being formed with a long hole (13a) in an up and down direction, fixing (14) for fixing the support plates (13) and the door (12), and arms (15) each being rotatably supported at both end parts with the work tank (2) and the support plate (13). Since the door (12) can be held at the position covering the lower end part of the opening (2a) of the work tank (2) and the position exposing the lower end part of the opening (2a), maintenance work and replacement work of the seal member (10) can be performed easily.

  • Patent number: 6831245
Abstract: A wire electric discharge machining apparatus has a wire guide upper unit for slidably retaining a wire electrode above a subject to be machined, a wire guide lower unit for slidably retaining the wire electrode below the subject, an arm member for retaining the wire guide lower unit in a position opposite to the wire guide upper unit, a machining tank filled with machining solution in which the subject is immersed and having a long hole through which the arm member can pass and move, and a scaling unit for suppressing outflow of the machining solution from the long hole. The sealing unit has a sealing plate for blocking the long hole of the machining tank. The wire electric discharge machining apparatus has machining solution jetting unit for jetting the machining solution into a small gap formed between a peripheral portion of the long hole and the sealing plate.
