  • Publication number: 20190259349
Abstract: Luminance unevenness in a display area having an irregular shape is suppressed. A display panel is a display panel in which a cutout is provided, including: a display area in which sub pixels are provided; a non-display zone which is located between the cutout and the display area; a scanning signal line which is provided so as to pass through the display area and the non-display zone; an electric conductor which is at least partially located in the non-display zone; and an insulating film, the scanning signal line being provided so as to overlap with the electric conductor via the insulating film.

  • Publication number: 20130027650
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device 20 including a display region 11a and a display region 11b. The display region 11a includes pixels 10a provided with, as pixel electrodes, transflective electrodes 15, each including a transmissive electrode 15a that carries out transmissive display, and a reflective electrode 15b that carries out reflective display. The display region 11b includes pixels 10b provided with, as pixel electrodes, transmissive electrodes 16 that carry out transmissive display. The direction in which the long side of the transmissive electrode 15a of the pixel 10a extends is positioned in the same direction in which the long side of the transmissive electrode 16 of the pixel 10b extends. By aligning the long side direction of the transmissive electrode 15a with the long side direction of the transmissive electrode 16, the direction of change in chromaticity in the display region 11a and the direction of change in chromaticity in the display region 11b become the same.

  • Patent number: 8339532
Abstract: An active matrix liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer; two substrates sandwiching the liquid crystal layer; and electrodes respectively provided in the two substrates, the electrodes applying voltage across the liquid crystal layer. A first electrode (15) in the substrate including a pixel selecting element (11) has a striped electrode pattern (15c) aligning liquid crystal molecules along a stripe line direction when voltage is applied across the liquid crystal layer. A contact (25h) of the first electrode (15) with the selecting element (11) is formed in a region opposed to, along a film thickness direction, a first region to which a signal liner (GLi) is allocated. This provides a liquid crystal display device in which a contact is made with the pixel electrode having the striped electrode pattern having the periodical arrangement, while alignment disorder of the liquid crystal molecules is not reflected on display.

  • Patent number: 8330909
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device (1) includes (i) an opening (22a) which is provided on a color filter (22) in a transmissive region and (ii) a light sensor (14) which is provided in the transmissive region for detecting an intensity of light which enters the liquid crystal display device (1), the light directly entering the light sensor (14) through the opening (22a). This makes it possible to provide (1) a liquid crystal display device in which each dot region includes a light detection element and which prevents a decrease in aperture ratio of a transmissive region and (ii) an electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20100295756
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a liquid crystal layer between a TFT array substrate and a counter substrate. The TFT array substrate has photo sensor elements in pixels, and has transparent shield electrodes which cover the photo sensor elements provided. The transparent shield electrodes are electrically insulated from pixel electrodes. Therefore, in the liquid crystal display device, an effect of electric noise on the photo sensor elements can be reduced for avoiding deterioration of sensitivity of the photo sensor elements.
