  • Patent number: 7476846
Abstract: A radar device includes a light projecting part that generates laser light, a light projecting lens that converges the generated laser light to form a beam, a reflective mirror for reflecting the converged beam to project it in a specified search direction and for reflecting returning light from this search direction, a light receiving lens for converging the returning light reflected by the reflective mirror, and a scanning part for moving the beam in a scanning manner. There are two light receiving parts which are different in photosensitivity, and a synthesizing part outputs a synthesized signal formed by synthesizing output signals from these two light receiving parts.

  • Patent number: 7471929
Abstract: [Problems] There are provided a device and a method for telephone countermeasure in using a telephone during driving which can automatically suppress communication of only a driver in a vehicle. [Means For Solving Problems] The device for telephone countermeasure includes a database (3), a driver judgment unit, and a mode switching unit. The database (3) contains driver face data (3-1) and a telephone number (3-2) of a mobile telephone (7) used by the driver for each of the drivers. The driver judgment unit identifies the current driver of the vehicle in the database (3) by the face authentication. The mode switching unit extracts the telephone number (3-2) of the mobile telephone (7) used by the identified driver from the database (3) and switches the mobile telephone (7) of the driver to a drive mode such as a message recording mode by using the telephone number.

  • Publication number: 20080285010
Abstract: An object detector projects laser light from a projecting part as detecting waves, moves the laser light horizontally and receives reflected waves of the laser light from an object to detect the position of the object from the elapsed time from when the laser light is projected until its reflection is received. A standard scan direction for a horizontal range of scan is set in a forward direction, and the vertical length irradiated by the laser light at positions where the distance from the projecting part is the same as the horizontal distance of the direction of projection of the detecting waves from the standard scan direction increases.

  • Publication number: 20080158042
Abstract: A radar device has a light projecting circuit for projecting light to an object. Reflected light from the object is received by a first light receiving circuit and a second light receiving circuit and converted into signals. The first and second light receiving circuits each have an activity range in which the outputted signal is proportional to the logarithm of the quantity of received light. The activity range of the first light receiving circuit is lower than the activity range of the second light receiving circuit.

  • Publication number: 20080158043
Abstract: A radar device includes a light projecting part for projecting light to an object, first and second light receiving elements each for outputting a signal according to the quantity of received light flux, and an optical system having a first optical path and a second optical path for guiding reflected light from the object respectively to the first light receiving element and to the second light receiving element. The optical system guides more light flux to the first optical path than to the second optical path corresponding to an incident light flux to the radar device.

  • Patent number: 7375625
Abstract: A sunken condition of a vehicle provided with a sensor for measuring air pressure inside a tire, a communication device that carries out wireless communications between a vehicle main body and a tire, a steering torque sensor that measures steering torque, a sensor for measuring rotary speeds of driver and follower wheels of the vehicle or a navigating apparatus including a global positioning system and a dead-reckoning device is detected by a detector having a controller without requiring a sensor for detecting the sunken condition. The controller identifies a sunken condition on the basis of a momentary change in detected data, the status of communication from the sensor, a drop in the measured steering torque, a relative drop of the rotary speed of a follower wheel with respect to that of a driver wheel or a disagreement in measured position data by the navigating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7333183
Abstract: A laser scanning device for measuring the distance to an object in a target area by projecting laser light scanningly is provided not only with a light receiving element for receiving reflected light from the target area to detect its intensity but also with an auxiliary light receiving element for receiving reflected light from a neighboring area which will be scanned next. The gain of amplifier for amplifying the intensity of light received by the light receiving element is adjusted based on the intensity of light received by the auxiliary light receiving element so as to avoid saturation. A one-dimensional or two-dimensional light receiving element for simultaneously receiving reflected light from a plurality of areas including the target area may be used instead.

  • Patent number: 7278505
Abstract: A control device is mounted to one's own mobile body such as a vehicle for controlling its starting motion. A distance measuring part measures the distance to a front going vehicle and a speed control part controls the speed of the own vehicle such that the distance to the front going vehicle will be constant based on the measured distance. A stop control part serves to detect stopping of the front going vehicle and generates a stop control signal for the own vehicle. A start control part serves to detect a start of said front going mobile body and generates a start control signal for the own vehicle. An image-taking device serves to obtain an image of the front when the front going vehicle stops and another image when it starts again. The own vehicle is inhibited from automatically starting if these two images do not match.

  • Publication number: 20070216878
Abstract: A laser beam projector has a laser light source that outputs a laser beam, a light projecting mirror for reflecting the laser beam outputted from the laser light source, a mirror driving device for oscillating the light projecting mirror so as to scan a specified area with the laser beam and piezoelectric elements attached to a back surface of the light projecting mirror. As a voltage is applied to the piezoelectric elements, the curvature of the reflecting surface of the light projecting mirror can be changed and the visibility angle of the light beam projector can be varied.

  • Publication number: 20070165967
Abstract: An object detector detects an object with a camera and calculates position data showing its direction and distance. A laser radar obtains an front image and recognizes an identified image in the front image. Coordinates of this identified image are calculated and converted to data indicating direction to the object. The identified image is correlated with the object detected by the laser radar and the correlated object is identified as an identified object. Position data of this correlated object are outputted as data on the identified object.

  • Publication number: 20070076186
Abstract: A distance measuring device measures relative positional relationship with a target object based on time difference between time when detecting waves are projected and time when reflected waves from said target object are received. A plurality of wave projecting and receiving units are arranged in a selected scanning direction. Each of these units has a wave projecting device for projecting detecting waves to a detection area and a wave receiving device for receiving reflected waves of the detecting waves reflected by an object in the detection area. A mechanism is provided for scanning a target area in the selected scanning direction with the detecting waves from these wave projecting and receiving units. Distance to the object is obtained based on timing for receiving the reflected waves.

  • Publication number: 20060210113
Abstract: An on-vehicle object detector has both a relative position measuring device and an image-taking device. The relative position measuring device is for scanning a frontal area with a beam of electromagnetic waves and measures distance L1 and direction to an object that reflects the waves. The image-taking device is for obtaining an image above a traffic lane in front and measures distance L2 to an object detected on this image. The vertical angle of spread of the electromagnetic beam is reduced if it is indicated by these devices that there is an object for which |L1-L2| satisfies a specified condition, indicating that there is an overhead road sign which is likely to affect the accuracy of measurement.
