  • Patent number: 7914101
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet printing apparatus that can print appropriate images by efficiently stirring ink in an ink tank in accordance with its status to homogenize it. When the elapsed time from the end of reciprocation of the carriage is shorter than a specified time, a printing operation is performed after the end of the reciprocation. The number of times that the carriage is reciprocated so as to stir the ink after the printing operation is set in accordance with the number of scans of the carriage during the printing operation.

  • Publication number: 20100053280
Abstract: An ink tank containing ink including a pigment component effectively prevents a problem that an ink having a higher concentration and including a sedimentary pigment is led out, even in a case where the ink tank is left unused on a printing apparatus for a long time. To this end, an ink leading-out port placed in an ink containing chamber, and used to supply the ink to a printing head is located higher than a lowermost portion of the ink containing chamber, and is also formed in an inclined surface inclined to a gravitational direction. Thereby, the sedimentary pigment slides the inclined surface, and thus is settled down in a position away from the ink leading-out port.

  • Patent number: 7607770
Abstract: A liquid (ink) supply system having a closed structure with respect to an inkjet recording head is configured such that a gas hindering a recording operation and a liquid supply operation can be rapidly and smoothly eliminated from a liquid supply system without involving any complication in structure. An ink tank (10) and a liquid chamber (50) for leading ink supplied to the recording head (20) are brought into fluid communication via two communication channels (53 and 54). Thus, in the state where the gas exists inside the liquid chamber, the ink is moved from the ink tank (10) via one communication channel (53), while the gas is transferred to the ink tank (10) via the other communication channel (54).

  • Publication number: 20090244217
Abstract: An ink container for retaining ink includes an ink containing body, an elastically displaceable supporting member, a light emitting portion, a light receiving portion for receiving light from the light emitting portion, a display portion for displaying the received light, and a light guide portion for optically connecting the light receiving portion and the display portion so as to guide the light received by the receiving portion to the display portion. The supporting member at least partly functions as the light guide portion. The light receiving portion is located, with a gap with respect to the light emitting portion, so as to cover the light emitting portion. The light receiving portion approaches the light emitting portion when the supporting member approaches the ink containing body by being subjected to urging toward the ink containing body.
