    Abstract: A rotor for a rotating electric machine has interference and lightening holes. The rotor includes a shaft and a rotor iron core. The shaft is press fitted in the rotor iron core. The rotor iron core includes a shaft hole, an outer area, an inner area in which the shaft is press fitted, a plurality of ribs connecting the outer area and the inner area. Each of the ribs includes a plurality of outer rib joints adjacent to the outer area, a plurality of outer rib portions adjacent to the outer area, a plurality of inner rib joints adjacent to the inner area, and a plurality of inner rib portions adjacent to the inner area. The outer rib portions are connected to the inner rib portions and the total number of the inner rib joints is larger than that of the outer rib joints.

    Abstract: A stator for a rotating electric machine facilitates the assembly of the stator coils and restricts its length in the axial direction. The stator includes a stator iron core having a plurality of teeth and a plurality of stator coils each being wound on one of the teeth. The stator coils include terminal stator coils, each having a crossover wire and a lead wire. Each crossover wire is connected to one of the stator coils of the same phase and each lead wire being is connected to an object other than the stator coils of the same phase. Each end of the crossover wires and the lead wires is disposed at a different level; a first level being the closest to the stator iron core. At least one of the lead wires of the terminal stator coils is disposed at least one level apart within the range of levels.

The winding part includes a plurality of unit winding subparts of a rectangular annular shape, a unit winding subpart including a pair of first straight-line segments, a pair of second straight-line segments, and curved corner segments which join the first straight-line segments and the second straight-line segments. In one of the pair of first straight-line segments, incline segments where the conductor is shifted by one pitch toward a winding axis direction are formed. In at least one of the unit winding subparts, a part of an incline segment is made by a part of each of the curved corner segments.

    Abstract: There is provided a rotor for a rotary electrical machine for improving mechanical strength of the rotor against centrifugal force. The rotary electrical machine is provided with a stator, and a rotor disposed with a gap from the stator, which has a rotor core. The rotor includes a magnet insertion hole, and a permanent magnet inserted into the magnet insertion hole. A clearance part is formed at a position of the magnet insertion hole corresponding to a corner of the inserted permanent magnet, which has a facing surface that is formed to face a surface of the permanent magnet via a gap. The facing surface of the clearance part has inflection points so that each of obtuse angles is formed by the two facing surfaces contiguous with the inflection points.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium includes a substrate; a metal film layer disposed on the substrate; a protective film disposed on the metal film layer; and a lubricant film disposed on a surface of the protective film. The protective film is composed of amorphous carbon containing fluorine and nitrogen in a surface region, and a region deeper than 0.5 nm deep from the surface of the protective film is substantially free from the fluorine and nitrogen. The fluorine and nitrogen may be each added in an amount of 5 to 20 at. %. The present invention simultaneously accomplishes a reduction in film thickness, an improvement in durability and corrosion resistance, and an improvement of the bonding strength of the surface of the protective film to the lubricating film.

A magnetic recording medium includes a substrate; a metal film layer placed on the substrate; and the protective film placed on the metal film layer. A method for producing the protective film for a magnetic recording medium includes providing a stacked body containing a substrate and a metal film layer formed on the substrate; forming the protective film on the stacked body; and plasma-processing the protective film in a fluorine-containing gas and a nitrogen-containing gas. The protective film of the present invention simultaneously accomplishes reduction in film thickness, improvement of durability and corrosion resistance, and improvement of the bonding strength of the surface of the protective film to a lubricating film.

The method of the invention of forming a protective film for a magnetic recording medium comprises (1) a step of forming a protective film, on a lamination including a substrate and metallic film layers formed on the substrate, by means of a plasma CVD method using a raw gas of a hydrocarbon gas, wherein a flow rate of the hydrocarbon gas is in a range of 50 sccm to 200 sccm and a emission current is in a range of 0.1 A to 0.3 A, and (2) a step of surface treatment on the protective film that has been formed in the step (1), including sub-steps of (2a) a plasma treatment in an argon gas and (2b) a plasma treatment in a gas containing a nitrogen gas.
