  • Patent number: 4914948
Abstract: A burden distribution monitoring apparatus, according to the present invention, includes a hollow cylindrical sonde having an inner end radially movable within the internal space of a furnace, such as a shaft furnace. The sonde carries a burden layer depth sensor and/or a burden grain distribution sensor for radially shifting working ends of the sensors. With the foregoing construction, burden depth and/or grading of the burden can be monitored in a plurality of radial points in the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4613113
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for blowing a powdery refining agent into a refining vessel which is adapted to blow the powder into a molten metal bath of the refining vessel together with a refining gas by feeding the powder from a pressure vessel to a main pipe for the supply of the refining gas. The pressure vessel is connected to the main pipe through a plurality of transportation pipes each provided with an on-off valve and connected to a secondary gas pipe for introduction of the refining gas downstream of the on-off valve. The secondary gas pipe is provided with a flow control valve.

  • Patent number: 4529336
Abstract: A method of distributing powdered or granular material to a plurality of feeding ends in a system having a pressurizing tank for pressurizing and fluidizing a powdered or granular material, a plurality of transportation pipes having one ends constituting discharge nozzles opening above a fluidized bed in the tank and the other ends connected to different feeding ends so as to introduce the material to the feeding ends, and a plurality of booster gas supply pipes for supplying respective transportation pipes with a booster gas. The internal pressure of the tank is controlled by a controller provided with a set valve in accordance with the mean value of the terminal pressures at the feeding ends, the mean value of predetermined set flow rates of the booster gas in the booster gas supplying pipes, and the mean value of predetermined set rates of transportation of material to the feeding ends.
