    Abstract: A cylinder head gasket 1 is sandwiched between a cylinder head 2 and a cylinder block 3 with a cylinder bore 4 and includes a substrate 10 with a combustion chamber hole 14 drilled at a position of the cylinder bore 4, and seal plates 11 to 13, the substrate 10 and the seal plates are stacked on one another. Fixation members 21 and 22 are secured to the substrate around a periphery of the combustion chamber hole. The seal plates include an engagement hole 23 formed therein and with which the fixation members are engaged. The engagement hole is engaged with the fixation members. The fixation members are sandwiched between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. The cylinder head and the cylinder block can be firmly coupled together via the fixation members.

    Abstract: A cylinder head gasket 1 includes at least one first seal plate 11 held between a cylinder head 2 and a cylinder block 3 having a cylinder bore 4, and the first seal plate 11 includes a combustion chamber hole 13 bored at a position of the cylinder bore 4 and a first full bead 11a surrounding the combustion chamber hole. In the first seal plate 11, a first step 11b U-shaped in section is formed at a position surrounding the combustion chamber hole outside of the first full bead 11a, and a filler 21 is charged in a recessed portion of the first step. Since the cylinder head and the cylinder block can be firmly connected via the step 11b, deformation of the cylinder block by explosion pressure of an engine can be suppressed, and thereby, reduction in sealing performance can be prevented.

    Abstract: A cylinder head gasket 1 comprises a pair of gasket baseplates 3 having a combustion chamber opening 3A formed therein, and a spacer 4 disposed around a cylinder bore 2 to surround it in an endless manner and held sandwiched between the pair of gasket baseplates 3. A full bead 3a and a half bead 3b are formed on each gasket baseplate in a region overlapped by the spacer 4, and the spacer as well as the full bead and the half bead are continuously held sandwiched between a cylinder head 5 and a cylinder block 6 along the circumference of the cylinder bore. The spacer allows the full bead and the half bead to be brought into abutment against the mating member under a high surface pressure and over a relatively extensive area of contact, whereby a good sealing performance is obtained in the presence of a gross porosity in the casting or flaw on the mating adjoined surface.
