  • Publication number: 20090177921
Abstract: A flag which is set to the on state when a process of writing data as a data file into a storage area which is permitted to be written only once results in failure is previously set in a data memory of an IC card. When a flag of a to-be-written EF specified by a write binary command is set to the on state, a control element of the IC card compares received data to be written to the EF with data which is already written to the data storage area of the EF. Based on the comparison result, the control element of the IC card rewrites data in the storage area in which the compared data items do not coincide with each other into the received data.

  • Patent number: 6044470
Abstract: Password identification information for identifying a password for key verification is set for each of a plurality of applications. A current password storage unit for storing a password which has recently been input and the password identification information of the password is arranged. When one application is selected, password identification information corresponding to the application is verified with the password identification information stored in the current password storage unit. If the two password identification information match, key verification is performed using the password in the current password storage unit. With this operation, a plurality of data can be read out by performing the password input operation once. One or two select keys are arranged in place of a ten-key pad. By repeating an operation using the select keys and the enter key, a password having a plurality of digits is input. Therefore, the password can be input using a minimum number of keys.

  • Patent number: 5285200
Abstract: A portable electronic device contains a memory having first to third memory areas and a CPU. A plurality of identification number data is stored in the first memory area. The portable electronic device receives identification number data from an external device. The CPU verifies the identification number data received by this device with the identification number data stored in the first memory area. Verification results are then stored in the second memory area. The portable electronic device also receives instruction data from the external device. Control data corresponding to the instruction data and representing a plurality of identifiers are stored in the third memory area. Each identifier indicates whether or not identification number verification is required and whether complete or partial identification number verification is required.

  • Patent number: 5202923
Abstract: After registration of a subprogram is completed, a flag indicating that the subprogram has been registered is set. The flag is referred to in response to a subprogram registration request from an IC card reader/writer. Registration of the subprogram is performed only when the flag is not set. A BCC of the subprogram is calculated and stored in a memory upon subprogram registration. When the registered subprogram is to be executed, a BCC of the subprogram read out from the memory is calculated and compared with the BCC stored in the memory. The subprogram is executed only when the two BCCs coincide with each other. If the subprogram has been registered, a BCC check is performed for the registered subprogram. If the BCC check indicates an error, registration of the subprogram is enabled.

  • Patent number: 5101410
Abstract: A data transmission arrangement for a portable data storage medium, in which messages are transmitted between an external device and a portable data storage medium at a plurality of times in response to one readout command output from the external device. When malfunction occurs during the processing in the portable data storage medium, the portable data storage medium outputs an abnormality response to the external device, and then receives a continuous data demand command from the external device. Thereafter, a status data different from the status data included in the first message is sent from the portable data storage medium to the external device. The external device recognizes this sent status data. Thereafter, the data transmission started in response to one readout command is not discontinued and additional data continuous to be transmitted.
