  • Patent number: 6287255
Abstract: Described is an apparatus for measuring a water transpiration amount, which comprises a barrel-type body having a humidity sensor inside of the body and opening portions on the top and bottom of the body, wherein a gas introductory path for feeding, from the outside of the apparatus, a gas having a predetermined water content to a surface to be measured is disposed at the side wall portion of the body and a freely openable or closable shutter is installed at the bottom opening portion of the body. The apparatus according to the present invention makes it possible to carry out accurate and prompt measurement of a water amount transpired locally from the skin surface, ocular surface or the like without being influenced by the external circumstances such as wind.

  • Patent number: 5374418
Abstract: A composition for use in the oral cavity is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) an antibacterial compound represented by the following general formula (1),A.sup.m+ .multidot.X.sub.m.sup.- (1)wherein A.sup.m+ is a nitrogen-containing antibacterial cation and the counter anion X.sup.- represents a monoalkyl phosphate ion, a monoalkenyl phosphate ion, a monoalkyl phosphonate ion, or a monoalkenyl phosphonate ion having a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group with 8 to 20 carbon atoms, and m is a valence of the cation A, and (B) a vehicle for use in the oral cavity. It exhibits a remarkablely rapid and continued disinfection effect action against oral cavity bacteria, while providing a good taste. Its disinfection effect is not reduced in the presence of surfactants. In addition, it does not color the tooth.

  • Patent number: 5244651
Abstract: A method of desensitizing hypersensitive dentin is disclosed. The method comprises treating teeth of patients suffering from hypersensitive dentin with a colloid produced by mixing (a) a salt of polyvalent metal and (b) a polyol phosphate and/or a water-soluble salt thereof. The colloid can constrict or occlude dentinal tubules in the tooth dentin, exhibiting a continuous effect on the desensitization of hypersensitive dentin owing to the very high absorptivity of the colloid to teeth. The colloid does not impair taste, and does not produce precipitate near the neutral region, enabling it to be used safely.
