  • Patent number: 5429169
Abstract: A radial tire for motorcycle has a belt layer of cords with modulus of elasticity of 600 kg/mm.sup.2 or more wound spirally on a carcass nearly parallel to the tire equator, and a bead apex rubber disposed on a bead core between a carcass main portion extending from a tread to a bead core and a carcass turned up portion. The bead apex rubber consists of a soft apex part SA with JISA hardness of 50 to 60 degrees extending radially outward from the bead core, and a hard apex part HA with JISA hardness of 70 to 95 degrees extending radially outward from the soft apex part SA. A height h1 the soft apex part SA from a bead base is 0.20 to 0.40 times a height h0 of the tread end, and a height h2 of the hard apex part HA is 0.50 to 1.25 times the height h0 of the tread end.

  • Patent number: 5429165
Abstract: A pneumatic-shaped solid tire in which rim slip is improved, the tire main body (4) comprises a tread rubber layer (3) and a base rubber layer (2) made of a rubber composition having a JIS(A) hardness from 75 to 90 in which short cordlike or fiberlike reinforcing materials are not mixed, the thickness (TC) of the base rubber layer measured from the base line (BL) to the radially outer face thereof is 0.3 to 0.7 times the tire section height (TH), and the base rubber layer is provided therein with a radially inner band (7) and a radially outer band (6) which are spaced apart from each other in the radial direction of the tire, each of the bands comprising at least one ply of heat-shrinkable organic fiber cords laid at an angle from 0 to 15 degrees with respect to the tire circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 5386866
Abstract: A radial tire comprises a toroidal carcass extending between beads and turned up around bead cores, and a belt reinforcement disposed radially outside the carcass and inside a tread, wherein the belt reinforcement comprises a band layer formed by plural ribbons of rubber in which one cord or two parallel cords are embedded, the ribbons are wound spirally and continuously from one edge to the other edge of the tread to be arranged side by side, the ends of the ribbons are located at the edges of the band layer, and at each of the edges of the band layer the ends of the ribbons are shifted equiangularly in the circumferential direction of the tire.

  • Patent number: 3941177
Abstract: A pneumatic tire is provided with at least one radially disposed ply of steel cord fabric turned-up around each bead core to terminate axially outwardly thereof and has a chafer strip disposed adjacent to and axially outwardly of each turn-up. The chafer strip comprises a folded strip of steel cord fabric which fabric is less rigid than the fabric of the carcass ply. The folded portion of the chafer strip is disposed radially outwardly of the ends thereof and is positioned to cover the edge of the turned-up end of the carcass ply.
