  • Patent number: 5821301
Abstract: Disclosed is a modified chlorinated polyolefin resin composition, as well as a method for producing the same, which has adhesion to polyolefin substrates without the need of steam-washing or degreasing the polyolefin surface with chlorine-based organic solvents such as trichloroethane, and which is improved in such properties as interlayer adhesion to base-coats and/or top-coats and gasohol resistance. The modified polyolefin resin composition for polyolefin resin paints comprises: a chlorinated polyolefin having an acid value of 1 to 500 mg.multidot.KOH/g, which is obtained by chlorinating a polyolefin modified with one kind, or more than one kind, of compounds selected from a group consisting of .alpha., .beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acids and/or acid anhydrides thereof in a range of 1 to 50% by weight; and a compound and/or a resin thereof having one epoxy group per molecule represented by the structural formula as described in the specification.

  • Patent number: 5349022
Abstract: Non-organic solvent, non-polluting and stable emulsions of modified chlorinated polyolefins are prepared by dissolving chlorinated polyolefins and oligomers of a (metha)acrylate system uniformly in a (metha)acrylate monomer in the presence or absence of catalyst or chain transfer moderator, and suspension polymerization is achieved in an aqueous solvent. The obtained suspensions are stable more than 3 months at room temperature, and these emulsions give one coat coating films and primer coating films which have good properties such as good adhesion, and waterproof and weatherproof properties.

  • Patent number: 5135984
Abstract: Modified chlorinated polyolefin compositions containing, as a main ingredient, a modified chlorinated polyolefin which is obtained by reacting together, in an organic solution, a chlorinated polyolefin, maleic acid anhydride, a (meth)acryl-modified hydrogenated polybutadiene and an organic peroxide. The modified chlorinated polyolefin compositions may be used in coating compositions, adhesives for polyolefines and as printing ink binders.

  • Patent number: 5130373
Abstract: Polyolefin type coating resin compositions obtained by copolymerizing acrylic type oligomers, polydienes, acrylic type monomers and chlorinated polyolefins containing 10-60 weight % chlorine in the existence or the absence of the Hardener. The obtained copolymers are used for coatings, printing inks or adhesives applying as one coat finish or primer to give excellent coating films of adhesive property, solvent resistance and the appearance.

  • Patent number: 4493938
Abstract: This invention is concerned with a method for the production of thioalkylene glycols by using the reaction solvent containing mainly the thioalkylene glycol, the product of the reaction of alkylene oxide and hydrogen sulfide, without using any other special solvent or inert solvent, in the presence of anion exchange resin as the catalyst, the method which enables the simple, economical and high-yield production of thioalkylene glycols because a high pressure is not necessarily required and the purification and isolation are carried out very easily. For example, according to this invention, thioethylene glycol was obtained in a 91% yield from ethylene oxide and hydrogen sulfide in the mixture of thioethylene glycol and thiodiethylene glycol as the solvent in the presence of the anion exchange resin as the catalyst. Similarly, thiopropylene glycol in a 95% yield from propylene oxide and hydrogen sulfide in thiopropylene glycol as the solvent, and thio-.alpha.-butylene glycol in a 94% yield from .alpha.
