  • Publication number: 20140104658
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a color measurement portion printing unit, a colorimeter, and an image evaluating unit. The color measurement portion printing unit prints at least one color measurement portion. The colorimeter measures a color of the color measurement portion. The image evaluating unit evaluates, on the basis of a measured color value obtained by the colorimeter and a predetermined reference value, whether or not an image printed in response to a print request satisfies quality requirements that are based on a predetermined standard. The image evaluating unit evaluates whether or not the image satisfies the quality requirements, on the basis of a measured color value of a color measurement portion whose color is the same as a color used in the image or whose color difference from the color used in the image is within a predetermined range, among plural color measurement portions.

  • Patent number: 8687915
Abstract: A determination image generator of an image processing apparatus compares, in pixel units, sixth image data with seventh image data or second image data. The sixth image data is obtained by selecting, in pixel units, a minimum value of a value of first image data and a value of fifth image data which is edge enhanced data of the first image data. The seventh image data is obtained by performing first processing to second image data. The generator sets in the determination image a third value for pixels where a value of the sixth image data is equal to or less than a value of the seventh image data or the second image data, or is equal to or less than a sum of the value of the seventh image data or the second image data and a first value, and sets a different value for all other pixels.

  • Patent number: 8437055
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a first storage unit, a second storage unit, a conversion unit and a determination unit. The first storage unit stores color conversion information for converting a name of a spot color other than process colors into a combination of the process colors. The second storage unit stores additional print material information regarding an additional print material. The additional print material information is input by a user for the name of the spot color. The conversion unit converts the name of the spot color, which is included in image data, into the combination of the process colors based on the color conversion information. The determination unit determines, for the name of the spot color included in the image data, a use amount of the additional print material, based on the additional print material information.

  • Patent number: 8352860
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing device and an image processing method, which prevent printing mishaps from occurring in printed matter when a user performs a printing process without knowing a compressed image is included on a page layout. When a compressed image is detected, a warning is generated to request selection of the next process. For this reason, when interruption of printing is designated, the printing process may be interrupted. The use of a warning color or application of an outline may be designated, and a drawing setting may also be performed according to the designation. An output of a warning page is designated, and a setting may also be performed such that a print output is obtained by either extracting the compressed image or by deleting the compressed image.

  • Patent number: 8031368
Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing device which aims for appropriate settings and simplification of printing functions. In a print server, when a print job is received, an application name used in a client terminal is specified from a drawing command of the print job, and standard settings of printing functions provided for each application are read from database files. Thereafter, the standard settings and settings of printing functions of the print job are compared. When the settings are different, after carrying out a warning processing, setting of printing functions based on the standard settings is carried out, and image processing and printing processing based on the set printing functions are executed. In this way, while simplifying settings of printing functions in the client terminal, image processing and printing processing by appropriate printing functions are possible.

  • Patent number: 8009917
Abstract: An image processing device is structured such that an appropriate judgement of an image, at which blurring or disappearance or the like will occur, is possible. When pixels, which form a line image at which there is the possibility that blurring or disappearance will occur at the time of printing by using a printing plate, are extracted, a line image warning function gives notice by displaying a warning message on a monitor of a client terminal. Thereafter, image converting and print setting are carried out such that an extracted line image is clarified. In this way, when a proof is prepared, an image, at which there is the possibility that blurring or disappearance will occur on a printed matter obtained by using a printing plate, is clarified, and appropriate proofing is possible.

  • Patent number: 7839540
Abstract: In a print server, when page setting is made, a spot color name is extracted from a comment in an image drawing command and image data or a code of a job on a page (page layout) unit basis and a list for a spot color name of each page is generated. After that, a color separating process and an RIP are performed on the page unit basis, raster data of each of colors C, M, Y, and K and corresponding raster data of a spot color name is generated, after that, on the basis of CMYK values designated by the spot color name, the raster data of the spot color is composed with the raster data of each of the colors C, M, Y, and K, and the resultant is output. In such a manner, an overprint of an object designated in a spot color can be reproduced accurately.

  • Patent number: 7821659
Abstract: When there is an object of a color plate which is different than a process color, it is confirmed whether or not Color (n), which corresponds to that color name Spot (n), is a spot color. If Color (n) is a spot color, CMYK value conversion is carried out from a LUT of that spot color, and CMYK values are composed in a region for output. If Color (n) is a process color, CMYK values thereof are stored in a region for CMYK color correction. After color correction is carried out on the CMYK values of the region for CMYK color correction, they are composed with CMYK values of the region for CMYK output. Color information when a color plate different than a process color is included, is generated.
