  • Patent number: 7835993
Abstract: Security is secured according to the type of a license so that unnecessary processing load is reduced. A license accumulation control unit (102) and a license transfer control unit (103) identifies a usage-rule type (204) which indicates whether or not a license (200) includes a usage rule (205) which requires updating each time a content is used, and encrypts the license (200) by using different encrypting methods depending on whether or not the usage rule (205) is included in the license (200). The license accumulation control unit (102) encrypts a content key: with a domain key when the license 200 does not include the usage rule (205); and with a license management device unique key, when the usage rule (205) is included, and accumulates the encrypted key in a license accumulation unit (110).

  • Publication number: 20100247077
Abstract: To provide a content playback device that can use content appropriately by avoiding output of content not permitted to be used according to contract information. A playback control unit 102 extracts a content name from playback control information in a playback path information table 210, and inquires of a rights management unit 108 whether content identified by the extracted content name is playable or not. If the content is judged as being unplayable, the playback control unit 102 extracts an alternative playback number from the playback control information, and extracts a content name from playback control information whose playback number matches the alternative playback number. The playback control unit 102 then instructs a decryption unit 103 and a playback unit 107 to decrypt and play back encrypted content identified by the extracted content name.

  • Publication number: 20100169462
Abstract: A CD on which only music information specified by the CD-DA is recorded, or a CD on which both music information specified by the CD-DA and music information to be recorded on a CD-ROM are recorded is mounted upon an information processing terminal. When the CD on which only music information specified by the CD-DA is recorded is mounted, the information processing terminal acquires, from a directory server, an ISRC number that identifies the music information recorded on the CD, and distribution server location information that identifies a content distribution server. The information processing terminal acquires content that is the music information compressed according to the MP3 and encrypted, from the content distribution server identified by the acquired distribution server location information, and the decryption key. The information processing terminal then decrypts the acquired content using the acquired decryption key and reproduces music.

  • Patent number: 7676042
Abstract: To reduce a frequency of recording communication management information for communication disconnection countermeasure. A digital content distribution system includes a license server (101) that issues a license, and a user terminal (103) that controls use of content based on the issued license. The license server (101) judges, according to the license to be issued, whether or not the communication management information for the communication disconnection countermeasure needs to be recorded, and notifies the user terminal of a result of the judgment. This enables the user terminal (103) to reduce the frequency of recording the communication management information.

  • Publication number: 20090214042
Abstract: A content playback apparatus reduces load concentration on a specific server apparatus that manages content keys of encrypted content, while protecting copyrights of the content. The content apparatus makes playback of content recorded in a recording medium sold possible after the specific server breaks down. A key acquisition control unit (204) reads a playback control information table (211) from a recording medium (102) via a reading unit (201). The key acquisition unit (204) acquires a rights key via a key acquisition intermediation unit (223) from an apparatus specified by an acquisition-destination type and a request-destination type that are stored in the playback control information table (211) and that corresponding to the content to be played. The key acquisition unit (204) generates a content key using the acquired rights key and, when required, a medium key recorded in a medium. A decryption unit (203) decrypts encrypted content using the content key.

  • Patent number: 7457779
Abstract: A user terminal program enables a user terminal apparatus to accept instruction information specifying a content that a user wants to reproduce on a predetermined reproducing apparatus other than the user terminal apparatus, and enables acquiring system identifying information to identify a system to receive the specified content from a distributing site. Moreover, the terminal program enables judging whether the acquired system identifying information is included in a compatibility file which includes one or more system identifying information for receiving the specified content according to the system identifying information if the acquired system identifying information is judged to be included, and prohibiting receiving if judged not to be included. Furthermore, the terminal program enables writing the received content to an internal memory or an insertable memory of the predetermined reproducing apparatus.

Abstract: When a secure counter malfunction detection unit 212 deters a malfunction in a secure counter 211, a content playability judgment unit 206 performs a content playability judgment based on information managed by a malfunctioning-state playback processing management unit 214. The malfunctioning-state playback processing management unit 214 stores a malfunctioning-state playback condition composed of information such as a playback count and a playback time. The content playability judgment unit 206 judges that content is playable when the malfunctioning-state playback condition is met, and a content playback unit 210 splays the content.
