  • Publication number: 20020029244
Abstract: Disclosed is a client-server system in which a software product for performing a specific processing is automatically updated. The client-server system includes one or more client apparatus onto which software (files) for specific processing are installed and a server apparatus onto which the software of the latest version is installed. Each client apparatus, when the software is activated, checks whether one or more updated files exist in the sever apparatus before starting the intrinsic processing. If one or more updated files exist in the server apparatus, the client apparatus downloads the files from the server apparatus and then starts the intrinsic processing using downloaded files.

  • Patent number: 6104134
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp comprising a bulb, a fluorescent material coated on an internal surface of the bulb, a stem, a discharge chamber filled with gas and mercury, a thermal cathode filament coated with electron emitting material, lead wires passing air-tight through the stem and supporting the thermal cathode filament and an anode, where the anode is substantially rectangular with a thickness 1/16.about.3/16 of the longitudinal length of the thermal cathode filament and is substantially parallel to cathode filament in a cross-sectional view along an axis Z. The thermal cathode filament and the rectangular anode are arranged such that either the thermal cathode filament or the rectangular anode is in a rotated position relative to the other on a parallel flat surface within an angle range of 30-60 degrees. In this composition, the smaller discharge spot is obtained to improve thermal electron emission efficiency and efficiency of the fluorescent lamp.

  • Patent number: 5932970
Abstract: There is provided a preform for a fluorescent lamp comprising a bulb and a stem provided with a filament and a discharge electrode and a fluorescent lamp prepared by the preform without an exhaust pipe for use as an indicating lamp, the fluorescent lamp being sealed after exhausting inside air and charging inert gas and mercury through an appropriate space formed between the bulb and the stem inserted into the bulb. Thus, even when liquefied mercury is present in the discharge chamber, it receives a large amount of heat from the filament applied voltage and is easily and quickly evaporated, whereby the characteristics of the lamp become stable quickly after turning on the lamp.

  • Patent number: 5845649
Abstract: A flavor-tasting article including a flavor-generating medium, and a heating source disposed physically separated from the flavor-generating medium to heat the flavor-generating medium to release a flavoring component therefrom. The flavor-generating medium includes a flavoring component-holding material formed of a heat-irreversibly gelled, heat-irreversibly coagulating glucan and a flavoring component held in the holding material. • Patent number: 5778899
Abstract: A smoking article has a flavor-generating material as a burnable smoking element. The flavor-generating material includes a flavoring component-holding material formed of a heat-irreversibly gelled glucan and a flavoring component held in the holding material, and is obtained by thermally gelling a mixture of ungelled glucan and the flavoring component added thereto. Since the flavoring component is firmly fixed and held within the three-dimensional network structure of the gelled glucan, the storage properties and release-durability of the flavoring component are improved.

  • Patent number: 5644689
Abstract: Original image coordinate data representing boundary positions of an object detected through the search of the object along predetermined multiple directions is produced in advance. A range image seen from a display plane is produced through the affine transformation process for the detected boundary positions and comparison and substitution processes for distances by means of a Z-buffer. A shading process is performed based on the range image, and the resulting object image is displayed on a CRT screen or the like. This method enables the transformation of voxel-wise original image data into original image coordinate data merely through the sequential access to the original image data, eliminating the need of intricate image processes such as tracking on the object surface, and is capable of displaying a three-dimensional image of the object quickly and also enhancing the picture quality of the displayed image.

  • Patent number: 5371465
Abstract: In an inspection apparatus using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), a spatial distribution of homogeneity of a static magnetic field can be quickly measured even when a heterogeneous object is inspected, by measuring simultaneously phase data and a transverse relaxation time at the same spatial position of the heterogeneous object, removing the difference of a phase term due to a chemical shift by anticipating components at that position and obtaining only the phase data resulting from static magnetic field inhomogeneity.

  • Patent number: 5297033
Abstract: This invention relates to a data processing method for suppressing truncation artifacts mixed into two-dimensional images in nuclear magnetic resonance imaging. Two-dimensional measurement data arrays are obtained on a space frequency domain by the combination of phase encoding and a readout gradient magentic field, and a data position providing the greatest value of the one-dimensional data array constituting the two-dimensional measurement data array is obtained in the readout direction so as to estimate the origin of the space frequency axis in the readout direction. A high-pass filter using the estimated origin as a reference is applied to each one-dimensional data array, and data extrapolation is made for each one-dimensional data array to obtain a data array having an expanded region. Nuclear spin images are obtained by inverse Fourier transformation of these data arrays.

  • Patent number: 5221898
Abstract: This invention relates to a ultra-high speed nuclear magnetic resonance fluid imaging method for selectively reconstructing projected images of a fluid from an echo train generated by the use of a readout gradient magnetic field which inverses periodically. A pulse-like encoding gradient magnetic field is used in combination with a readout gradient magnetic field which inverses periodically, so as to generate an echo train containing alternately echoes whose phase change of magnetization due to a flow is emphasized and echoes whose phase change of magnetization due to the flow is corrected, and subjected sequentially to phase encoding. A data train containing only the echoes whose phase change of magnetization due to the flow is emphasized and a data train containing only the echoes whose phase change of magnetization due to the flow is corrected are formed from sampling data of these echoes, respectively, and two images are then obtained by subjecting them individually to two-dimensional Fourier transform.

  • Patent number: 5204626
Abstract: NMR signals of low concentration solutes are obtained with suppression of NMR signal of solvent by sequentially applying a first RF pulse sequence, a 180.degree. RF pulse and a second RF pulse sequence to an object. Each of the first and second RF pulse sequence includes equally spaced RF pulses which have flip angles in accordance with binominal coefficients. Phase errors due to inhomogeneity of a static magnetic field are cancelled through the two-time application of equally spaced RF pulse sequence.
