  • Patent number: 9145568
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a means for conveniently producing ethanol with high efficiency from a carbon source derived from a plant biomass resource or the like. The present invention relates to a method for producing ethanol, comprising a step of generating ethanol by culturing basidiomycetes belonging to the genus Phlebia with a carbon source. As carbon sources, cellulose, hemicellulose, glucose, xylose, and the like or plant biomass resources containing the same can be used.

  • Publication number: 20040142458
Abstract: White rot fungi capable of decomposing dioxin were screened from rotten wood to isolate the MZ-340 strain. This MZ-340 could be cultured in the Kirk liquid medium (HCLN) or PDB medium. New systems that can be used to decompose dioxins in incineration ash were constructed using this MZ-340 strain. The present invention can decompose dioxins in incineration ash effectively and efficiently in both solid phase systems and liquid phase systems. Thus, the present invention enables the prevention of environmental pollution by dioxins generated during incineration and also the clean up of dioxin pollutants.

  • Patent number: 5431820
Abstract: The liquid waste after pulp bleaching can be treated by using a microorganism having lignin degradation activity and having been pre-cultured in a culture medium supplemented with the liquid waste after pulp bleaching and/or lignin related substances, the cultured products thereof and/or the treated products thereof. The scarcely degradable colored ingredients and/or chlorinated phenols contained in the liquid waste after pulp bleaching can be decomposed and removed, whereby the efficient treatment of the liquid waste after pulp bleaching can be achieved.
