    Abstract: A solid-state image pickup device having photosensitive cells disposed on a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type. The photosensitive cells include phototransistors for generating photocarriers associated with light incident thereto to store the photocarriers generated therein, and readout gates connected to one electrode of the phototransistors for reading out in the form of video signal the photocarriers stored in the phototransistors. The photosensitive cells are arranged in a principal surface of the semiconductor substrate. The photosensitive cells further include capacitors disposed in the principal surface and connected to the other electrodes of the phototransistors.
