  • Patent number: 6278837
Abstract: A multichannel recording and reproducing apparatus which includes: an input and output circuit; a buffer for temporally storing multichannel of video data through inputting and outputting circuit; a disc unit for storing the video data; a disc interface; a user interface circuit for receiving recording and reproducing commands and a corresponding file name from a user; a control circuit responsive to the user interface for obtaining one of N video channel circuits of the input and output circuit for inputting and outputting video data and receiving recording and reproducing commands; a filing circuit controlling files and determining first and second address data of the disc unit according to the recording and reproducing commands respectively; an access control circuit for accumulating the recording and reproducing commands and supplying each of the accumulated recording and reproducing commands when the disc interface is in a non-operating condition with priority provided to either of the recording or repro

  • Patent number: 5953291
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus and method which prevents or managing a data loss caused by each of seek operations in recording/reproducing a time-series digital data set, to/from a disk recording media via a buffer. Beforerecording/reproducing, a check is made, by using a rate of data transfer with the outside, a data transfer rate in an access to a track where each of the selected sectors lies, and a seek time for each of changes in tracks, to see if the buffer will overflow/underflow during the period of recording/reproducing. If so, then an input/output data transfer rate is reduced before recording/reproducing to make the check. In case of recording, if there is at least a substitute for a sector which will cause the overflow, the sector is changed to a substitute.

  • Patent number: 5920673
Abstract: A recording apparatus that can implement an endless recording function and a prealert recording function for video and audio data using a single random access recording medium having excellent random accessibility will be provided. The recording apparatus includes: an input section 101 that receives data; a recording section 103 that has a random access recording medium and makes a data recording onto the random access recording medium; and a control section 104 that sequentially records data onto recording sectors by controlling data transfer between the input section and the recording section. By causing the control section to repetitively overwrite data to a recording area, the endless recording function can be implemented.
