  • Publication number: 20210071625
Abstract: This EGR system is applied to a vehicle including an exhaust purification device capable of purifying NOx, and is provided with: an EGR passageway; a flow volume modification mechanism; and a control device which, when the NOx concentration in exhaust discharged from the exhaust purification device is greater than a reference value, starts to perform a control process for controlling the flow volume modification mechanism so that the ratio of the flow volume of a first exhaust that flows into a tail pipe decreases and the ratio of the flow volume of a second exhaust that flows into the EGR passageway increases, and makes the ratio of the flow volume of the second exhaust greater than the ratio of the flow volume of the first exhaust during the control process.

  • Patent number: 8091341
Abstract: Exhaust gas purification method where a purification agent, consumed by an exhaust gas purifier arranged in the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, is supplied by an injector in an exhaust pipe into the exhaust passage on the upstream side of the exhaust gas purifier and mixed with exhaust gas. The exhaust passage is provided with a step beyond which the exhaust passage expands in order to generate swirls in the exhaust gas flow, and the purification agent is introduced at the step or in the vicinity thereof, thus accelerating atomization of the purification agent. Consequently, vaporization and diffusion of the purification agent can be accelerated efficiently within a short distance in the exhaust passage, and the purification agent can reach the exhaust gas purifier under a state where the purification agent is made uniform. Consequently, an exhaust gas purification system can be used even in small vehicles.

  • Patent number: 7905086
Abstract: An exhaust gas purification system having a NOx conversion catalyst device with a catalyst supported thereon for conversion of NOx in the exhaust gas. In order to accurately introduce a fuel in a necessary and sufficient amount for raising the temperature for allowing the NOx conversion catalyst device to be brought to a desulfurization target temperature, even during transient operation to maintain the state of the device at a temperature of the desulfurization target or above, an amount of fuel necessary for raising a first detection temperature as an indicator of the catalyst temperature to a desulfurization target temperature is set using a heat quantity computed from a first heat quantity necessary for raising the temperature of the NOx conversion catalyst device and a second heat quantity necessary for raising the temperature of the exhaust gas.

  • Publication number: 20090044524
Abstract: In an exhaust gas purification method where purification agent F being consumed by an exhaust gas purifier (10) arranged in the exhaust passage (4) of an internal combustion engine (E) is supplied by an injector (13) in an exhaust pipe into the exhaust passage (4) on the upstream side of the exhaust gas purifier (10) and mixed with exhaust gas (G), the exhaust passage (4) is provided with a step (4b) beyond which the exhaust passage (4) expands as compared with the upstream side thereof in order to generate swirls in the exhaust gas (G) flow, and the purification agent (F) is ejected to the position of the step (4b) or in the vicinity thereof thus accelerating atomization of the purification agent (F). Consequently, vaporization and diffusion of the purification agent (F) can be accelerated efficiently within a short distance in the exhaust passage (4), and the purification agent can reach the exhaust gas purifier (110) under a state where the purification agent is made uniform.
