  • Publication number: 20110205235
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an operating unit configured to calculate a tangent-line direction of an edge and a normal-line direction of the edge by using a vertical-direction derivative value and a horizontal-direction derivative value of a pixel value of a pixel in an input image; a converting unit configured to convert local coordinates positioned within a predetermined area with respect to a target pixel in the input image into rotated coordinates, by rotating the local coordinates according to an angle formed by the horizontal direction and the tangent-line direction of the edge; and a fitting unit configured to perform, at the rotated coordinates, a fitting process that employs a least-squares method by using a curved surface model expressed with the pixel value of the target pixel in the input image.

  • Publication number: 20110181593
Abstract: According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a setting unit, a transform unit and a generation unit. The acquisition unit is configured to acquire a parallax value of each pixel of a plurality of images having a parallax. The setting unit is configured to set at least one reference range within a range of the parallax value. The transform unit is configured to apply transform to the parallax value of each pixel so as not to change a parallax value belonging to the reference range but to change a parallax value that does not belong to the reference range without changing a magnitude relationship between the parallax values of the pixels. The generation unit is configured to generate a parallax image from the image based on the parallax values after applying the transform.

  • Publication number: 20100128170
Abstract: A resolution increasing apparatus including: a motion image decoding unit that sets a reference frame and a pixel of attention; a provisional-high-resolution-image generating unit that generates a provisional high-resolution image having the number of pixels larger than that of the reference frame; a determining unit that determines whether correction of a pixel value of a corresponding position of the provisional high-resolution image corresponding to the pixel of attention should be performed; and a high-resolution-image correcting unit that performs, when the determining unit determines that the correction is performed, predetermined correction processing and outputs, when the determining unit determines that the correction is not performed, the pixel value of the corresponding position of the provisional high-resolution image as a high-resolution image.

  • Publication number: 20090244389
Abstract: An interpolated image generating apparatus calculates a motion vector reliability level indicating reliability of a motion vector used for inserting an interpolated image, the value of the motion vector reliability level being determined in such a manner that the stronger the correlation is between a source image area and a destination image area that are brought into correspondence with each other by the motion vector, the larger is the value. The apparatus also calculates a failure-preventing vector reliability level indicating reliability of a predetermined failure-preventing vector used for preventing image failures.
