Method for receiving and displaying thematic audio-visual programme sequences, and receiver therefor
Patent number: 8726307Abstract: The invention consists of a process for receiving and for screening audiovisual transmissions broadcast by a network. The transmissions consisting of events and of short transmissions possessing a distinctive element, these short transmissions being broadcast by services identifiable by this distinctive element. At a certain moment specified by the broadcaster, a sequence is transmitted on the network, it is replaced at the level of the display of the receiver by another sequence extracted from a service broadcasting short transmissions. The choice of this service is made at the receiver level. To avoid the appearance of a black screen between the network's transmitted sequences and the short transmissions, the receiver dispatches a filler transmission to the screen. The invention also consists of a digital television receiver for implementing the process.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2001Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Thomson LicensingInventors: Yvon Legallais, Sebastien Perrot, Philippe Schmouker -

Patent number: 8005021Abstract: The invention concerns a method for transmitting packets in a network comprising at least a first sub-network and a second sub-network connected through a transparent communication link, said link comprising at least a first interface device connected to the first sub-network and a second interface device connected to the second sub-network. The method comprises the steps of: attributing a first set of addresses to the interface devices on the communication link; attributing a second set of addresses to nodes connected to the sub-networks, the attribution of the second set being done independently from the attribution of the first set; checking whether there appears a conflict between an address of the first set and an address of the second set, and in the affirmative: changing the conflicting address of the first set to a non conflicting address. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method as well as a method for detecting and transmitting packets to be transmitted over the link.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2002Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Thomson LicensingInventors: Nathalie Thomas, Gilles Straub, Sébastien Perrot

Patent number: 7596138Abstract: Within the framework of a wireless local area network, the sending of the multipoint transmission streams is not made reliable by an acknowledgment of receipt mechanism. This reliability may be improved by the sending in point-to-point mode of the packets belonging to a multipoint transmission stream. In the case of a digital service consisting of several streams of different priorities, it is possible to send only some of these streams in point-to-point mode while the other streams remain in multipoint. A gateway between the local area network and the exterior may be tasked with this selective transformation of the mode of transmission of the streams received.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2005Date of Patent: September 29, 2009Assignee: Thomson LicensingInventors: Yvon Legallais, Sébastien Perrot, Philippes Bordes
