  • Patent number: 7817679
Abstract: Transference of signaling frames on GERAN (GSM/EDGE radio Access Network) half rate channels utilizing a modulation scheme carrying n bits in one symbol. In order to be able to utilize the existing channel coding developed for channels with different modulations and to avoid high rate convolutional and block codes, the AMR signaling frame to be transferred is coded using a coding procedure defined for a GSM half rate channel utilizing a GMSK modulation scheme, the coding procedure outputting a coded output stream. In response to said coding, each bit of the coded output stream is repeated n times, whereby a repeated bit stream is obtained, and symbols to be transmitted are formed from the repeated bit stream.

  • Patent number: 7668546
Abstract: A method includes storing a first Serving Grant (SG) value for use in a first serving cell, entering a second serving cell, receiving an information element from a higher layer, maintaining the first SG value if the information element does not include a second SG value, and changing the first SG value to the second SG value if the information element includes a second SG value.

  • Patent number: 6973060
Abstract: A method for presenting information to a mobile station that is transmitted during a common idle frame that consists of a set of time slots, comprising arranging individual transmissions such that the mobile station is enabled to receive all pertinent information from a subset of timeslots of the idle frame, without regard for what traffic time slot or slots the mobile station is assigned to. The individual transmissions originate from individual ones of a plurality of base stations, and the base stations are operated so as to alternate or rotate the transmission of bursts within the idle frame. Depending on a number of different bursts to be sent, a particular burst transmitted from one base station is never transmitted in the same time slot during two consecutive idle frames. In a presently preferred, but not limiting, embodiment of this invention the bursts are SCH bursts transmitted from base stations in a synchronous GSM telecommunications system.

  • Publication number: 20020042284
Abstract: A method and devices are disclosed for conveying information related to fast power control between a mobile sation and a radio access network in a cellular radio system. Frames of payload information are transmitted during certain first period of an active circuit-switched communication connection, said first period corresponding to a period where payload information exists for transmission. Information related to fast power control is inserted into the frames of payload information transmitted during said first period of an active circuit-switched communication connection. The transmission of frames of payload information is temporarily discontinued for the duration of a certain second period of an active circuit-switched communication connection, said second period corresponding to a period where payload information temporarily does not exist for transmission. Updating messages are transmitted according to a certain timetable during said second period.
