  • Patent number: 6065795
Abstract: A seating arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a lower seat cushion for supporting a vehicle occupant. The seating arrangement further includes a floor pan. The floor pan is preferably contoured to cooperate with the lower seat cushion. More particularly, the floor pan includes a lower portion and a raised portion. The raised portion includes an upper surface which is concavely curved in each of a lateral and longitudinal direction. The lower seat cushion is attached directly to the floor pan.

  • Patent number: 6055901
Abstract: A cooking set including an perforated inset and a support ring. The support ring is adapted to fit within and rest upon the rim of a conventional cooking pot or dutch oven to support the inset at various heights. The inset is adapted to fit within the support ring so that it can be lowered into and raised out of the pot. The support ring defines a set of notches and the inset includes a set of corresponding protrusions. When the notches and protrusions are aligned, the inset can be lowered into and raised out of the pot. When the protrusions are not aligned with the notches, they can engage and rest upon the support ring to support the inset in a raised position. In the most preferred embodiment, the inset includes multiple sets of protrusions, each set positioned at a different height along the wall of the inset. Each set of protrusions permits the inset to be supported at a different height.

  • Patent number: 4699081
Abstract: An apparatus is described for the continuous monitoring of a solution such as an electroless nickel plating bath, and the routine adjustment of the bath during use. The apparatus comprises a probe adapted to be placed directly into the plating tank, and controller for means for replenishing nickel ions and other plating additives as they are depleted from the bath. The probe uses a light source for passing a beam of monochromatic light through a portion of the bath and a detector for measuring the intensity of the light. Means are used to prevent air and hydrogen bubbles in the bath from affecting the reliability of the measurements. Additional means are used for cooling of the electronics and the portion of the bath through which the light is directed.

  • Patent number: 4416316
Abstract: A vehicle's spare tire can be made lighter and cheaper for economy, but this entails limited performance and shorter safe life. The invention provides a temporary spare tire with a tread which emits a distinctive two-tone or three-tone warning sound when in use to give audible warning of the need for early replacement. The tread is structured to maximize highway noise, and is circumferentially divided into two or more parts, each at least one-sixth of the circumference and which contact the highway in sequence. Each part emits a particular different note or tone, so that different notes or tones sound in sequence as the vehicle moves. The preferred tread structure is a block pattern with a sinusoidally varying land/sea ratio to concentrate acoustic energy at a characteristic frequency within each circumferential part. The same tread pattern may be used around the whole tread, "stretched" into long-pitch lengths for low notes and "compressed" into short-pitch lengths for high notes.
