  • Patent number: 7862543
Abstract: A drug delivery system is disclosed which may be a throwaway or reusable device for delivery at least one drug to a patient. Also described is a method for administering a drug using said device and a packaged drug for use with said device. The drug delivery device (10) comprises a housing (12), a means (14) for generating a force capable of pushing a drug (16) from a packaging (18) into a human or animal body, a means (20) for transmitting said force to push the drug (16) from the packaging (18) into the human and animal body, and a means (38, 42b) for triggering the device. Where the device is a single use drug delivery system, a packaged drug (100) forms an integral part of the device. The packaged drug comprises a region (102) allowing it to be slidably mounted to the drug delivery device (10).

  • Publication number: 20060166245
Abstract: The compositions of the present invention find use in amplifying RNA obtained from subjects, particularly very small RNA samples. The methods allow conversion of RNA into circularized cDNA suitable for amplification by rolling circle replication. The amplified cDNA is then transcribed into RNA resulting in amplified RNA.

  • Publication number: 20020109411
Abstract: A power delivery system is disclosed including a primary power bus for transferring power to the facility from on-site generators, and a secondary power bus for transferring power to the facility from a utility. The system further includes a static disconnect switch capable of quickly isolating the facility from the utility power grid, and a controller for controlling the overall operation of the power delivery system. In a normal mode of operation, the utility supplies power approximately in the amount of the single largest load in the facility, with the remaining power being supplied by the on-site generators. If one or more of the generators go off-line, the power supply from the utility may be increased. Similarly, if the quality of the power supplied by the utility drops below a predetermined level, the static disconnect switch quickly opens and islands the facility, whereupon 100% of the power is supplied by the generators.

  • Patent number: 6433962
Abstract: A limited use tape cassette comprising a housing enclosing a tape spooled to pass from a rotatable supply reel to a rotatable take-up reel during tape play, and from the take-up reel to the supply reel during tape rewind. A follower arm is pivotally mounted on the housing and is biased to engage spooled tape on the one of the reels, preferably the supply reel. An erase arm is pivotally mounted on the housing and is movably and releasably connected to the follower arm. The erase arm has a tape erase head thereon and is biased toward the take-up reel. Upon predetermined movement of the follower arm which results from predetermined tape movement between the reels, the erase arm is released from the follower arm to move the erase head into engagement with the tape on the take-up reel to erase it as it is being rewound onto the supply reel. After the erased tape is rewound onto the supply reel, the erase arm moves the erase head to an inoperative position to enable the erased tape to be reused.

  • Patent number: 6296043
Abstract: Spraycasting method involves directing an atomized metal or alloy spray at a collector disposed in a spray chamber and controlling temperature of the spray in flight in the spray chamber and of the atomized metal or alloy as it is deposited on the collector by a spray chamber pressure control technique that involves in-situ evacuation of the spray chamber during spray deposition to a maintain spray chamber gas partial pressure less than about 400 torr. Such low spray chamber gas partial pressure provides a higher temperature of the atomized spray in flight in the spray chamber and of the sprayed material as it is deposited on a collector in the spray chamber effective to reduce deposit porosity, reduce grain layering or banding, and provide a uniform grain through the thickness of the deposit.

  • Patent number: 6241180
Abstract: A rolled sheet material dispenser and holder that allows one to tear off a single sheet at a time without unrolling unwanted sheets. The apparatus is designed so that the moment of inertia of the core element and paper roll are sufficient to retard excessive spooling when a sheet is torn off the roll.

  • Patent number: 6155510
Abstract: A limited-use tape cassette includes a follower arm pivotally secured to the housing at one end while abutting the spooled tape of a cassette reel at a distal end. A use-limiting mechanism is provided by the follower arm or another inter-related arm to control rewinding and/or playback of the tape based on follower arm position and/or positional history. In one embodiment, a second rotatable arm is located in controlled interference with the follower arm so as to cause it to "lock up" after a predetermined number of unfettered play back/rewind cycles have taken place. In other embodiments, the arrangement utilizes existing brake teeth of a tape cassette reel to prevent rewinding after a predetermined amount of the video has been viewed. In other arrangements, an over-center follower arm position is utilized together with a stop abutment to bind the tape against complete rewinding only after the video has been substantially completely once viewed.
