    Abstract: An aspect of the present invention simplifies management of icons by enabling a user to indicate that a first icon is to be merged with a second icon and displaying a third icon, where the third icon is different from each of the first and the second icons. The user may optionally de-merge the icons. In an embodiment, each of the constituent icons are designed to display the output of a program of a gadget.
