  • Publication number: 20240037880
Abstract: The disclosure describes artificial reality systems and techniques for providing artificial reality content to a user. For example, an artificial reality system includes a head-mounted display (HMD) configured to output artificial reality content, the HMD including a set of second image capture devices configured to capture image data indicative of a focal point of a gaze of the user and a varifocal display having a focal length that is modifiable based on the focal point of the user. Additionally, the system includes a depth engine configured to generate, based on the real-world image data and depth data associated with the real-world image data, a three-dimensional (3D) scene of the physical environment of the user and generate artificial reality content as an overlay to the 3D scene of the physical environment for display on the varifocal display of the HMD based on the focal point of the user.

  • Publication number: 20230254446
Abstract: A system for simultaneously providing multiple perspectives of video content during a communication is disclosed. The system may receive first video content captured by a first communication device. The first video content may be associated with a first viewpoint perspective indicating first video data associated with a view that a first user views via the first communication device when looking at an environment. The system may receive second video content captured by a second communication device. The second video content may be associated with a second viewpoint perspective associated with second video data indicating at least one of the first user or one or more objects within the environment. The system may provide the first video data associated with the first viewpoint perspective and the second video data associated with the second viewpoint perspective simultaneously to one or more communication devices during a communication associated with a plurality of devices.

  • Patent number: 11526065
Abstract: The disclosed electronic shutter may include (1) an optical structure including a medium through which light from an environment passes to a lens of a camera for capturing an image of the environment; and (2) a controlling circuit that (a) detects a first condition of a signal, where the first condition indicates an activation of the camera, (b) controls, in response, to the first condition, the optical structure such that the medium attains a transparent optical state, (c) detects a second condition of the signal, where the second condition indicates a deactivation of the camera, and (d) controls, in response to the second condition, the optical structure such that the medium attains a non-transparent optical state in a manner that prevents visual detection of the lens from the environment. Various other methods and systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10529087
Abstract: A depth mapping device comprises a plurality of imaging components arranged among one or more rings. A depth mapping device may be designed by identifying a plurality of configurations satisfying a set of input parameters that includes a number of imaging components, each configuration indicating a different arrangement of imaging components among one or more rings. Coverages for different configuration parameter sets for the configuration are analyzed to determine a configuration parameter set associated with the configuration having a highest coverage, where the coverage is indicative of an amount of a local area viewable by a depth mapping device using the configuration and associated configuration parameter set. A target configuration having a highest coverage is selected and used to generate a depth mapping device design to be manufactured.
