    Abstract: The present invention provides a controlled release, solid fertilizer composition comprising a water-soluble central substrate and at least three layers of a water insoluble coating formed by reacting a polyisocyanate and a polyol and further comprising a coating of an organic wax. The present invention provides a better release profile in relation to the amount of coating materials applied than known fertilizers. Preparation systems and processes are also provided.
