Abstract: The present description refers to a technique for receiving a request to create a new business object where the request includes one or more business object attributes, determining a type of business object based on one or more business object attributes, identifying a plurality of fields associated with the type of business object, selecting a subset of the plurality of fields, causing a business object creation interface to be inserted into the application window including the selected subset of fields, receiving, information entered into the one or more fields by a user via the business object creation interface, generating the new business object with the received information, causing the new business object to be added to the list of business objects in the application window, and causing the business object creation interface to be removed from the application window.

Abstract: A method and computer program product for performing the method are provided. The method includes receiving a first user selection of a source database object to be used in the creation of a new database object. The source database object has a first predefined database object type. The method also includes storing a reference to the selected source database object in association with a user identifier associated with the first user selection; receiving a second user selection of a second predefined database object type to be used in the creation of the new database object. The second database object type is different from the first database object type. The method also includes determining if a user identifier associated with the second user selection is stored in association with the user identifier associated with the stored reference, and if so, creating the new database object using the referenced source database object.

Abstract: Users of network-based collaborative applications can be notified in real-time based on workflow changes or notifications. In one embodiment, a persistent icon can be displayed that is visible from different pages in the application. The persistent icon can be visible from any page in the application on an application toolbar. When a notification or workflow request is posted, the persistent icon can be dynamically updated in real time, and without the need for refreshing the currently displayed view. Additionally, notification and workflow requests can be sent to multiple users simultaneously. When a notification or request is received, a counter can be incremented indicating a number of unread notifications or requests.

A system for navigating through a number of different computer applications to complete a task. In a graphical user interface generated by a processor, a screenflow template is presented to a user via a list of screens, tasks and applications outlining steps in a process. Based on user inputs, a user-defined screenflow may be generated that incorporates screens for data entry and informational purposes, intermediate tasks for completion of the process, and computer applications for processing inputted and retrieved data. A screen of the user-defined screenflow may access data storage to obtain data required to complete the task.

Abstract: In a business automation software system, a specifier setting a reminder is added to a business object to provide a arbitrary reminder to the user adding the reminder. Prior to forwarding a business object from a sender to a recipient, a specifier is added to the business object indicating a threshold time limit for a reminder to be sent to the sender. If the threshold time limit specified in the business object is determined to have expired, the reminder is automatically sent to the sender.

Abstract: A planning monitor and control system is provided for use with an enterprise computing system. The system generates a user interface planning visual display that includes a list view area containing a list of planning projects predefined to be included in a list of planning projects of interest to a user. At least one of the listed planning projects includes an electronically linked electronic planning document that is created and maintained in an application software program module of the enterprise computing system that is separate from the planning monitor and control system. Planning information is generated in the linked planning document as part of the listed planning project to which the planning document is associated. Abstract: A tool for use in a computer system revises a large set of transaction records, for example hundreds or thousands of records, with a convenient user interface. An operator builds a query for a database to retrieve transaction records. The tool generates temporary copies of the transaction records that are responsive to the query and applies a specified data revision operation to each of the temporary copies. The operator may review and approve the data revision before it is committed to the database system. After receiving approval from an operator, the computer system substitutes the revised temporary copies for the transaction records in the database.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for dynamic purchase ordering functionality in a business information system according to one embodiment of the present invention. The dynamic purchase ordering functionality receives a purchase order confirmation from a supplier and notifies the purchaser. If the supplier provides a deviating quantity in the purchase order confirmation (i.e., the supplier confirmed quantity is different than the purchaser ordered quantity), a dynamic availability of the product and/or service with the deviating quantity is determined and presented to the purchaser along with the purchase order confirmation in order to assist the purchaser in responding to the supplier's purchase order confirmation and to provide the purchaser with an integrated set of data in order to allow the purchaser greater flexibility and efficiency in responding to the supplier's purchase order confirmation. In this manner the purchase ordering system may be enhanced from the purchaser's perspective.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for optimizing a purchase order. While generating a purchase order, a purchasing agent may aggregate a company's purchasing requirements into a single purchase order, receive notification of a supplier's offers for discounts to determine whether it would be advantageous to modify a purchase request, or view evaluations of a supplier's past performance. Upon receipt of a purchase request, potential suppliers are identified to fulfill the request. A purchasing agent may then see whether a purchase request may be aggregated with other purchase requests or whether conditions are present that may trigger other opportunities to optimize the purchase order. As a result, a purchase order is generated that has been optimized to reduce costs as well as take advantage of other benefits that the purchaser may be interested in.
