Patent number: 9439103Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems are provided for modem coordination. A method may include establishing a coordinated communication session with a base station on a first communication channel. The method may further include causing transmission, to the base station, of an indication of an occurrence of an irregular transmission of data on a second communication channel. The second communication channel may be with a station logically separated from the base station. The base station maybe configured to respond to the indication of the occurrence of the irregular transmission by modifying transmission on the first communication channel to avoid interfering with the irregular transmission. The method may additionally include causing transmission, to the base station, of an indication of completion of the irregular transmission to allow the base station to resume normal transmission on the first communication channel. Corresponding apparatuses and systems are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2010Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Mikko Pesola, Petri Vasenkari, Tommi Auranen, Woonhee Hwang, Sabine Rossel, Michael Schopp, Sari Nielsen

Patent number: 8965463Abstract: In an apparatus of a mobile communications network, time domain fractions of a transmission time interval, which are to be used for transmission of information relating to network operation, are determined as first symbols and the rest of the time domain fractions of the transmission time interval are determined as second symbols, and specific symbols of the second symbols are determined for non-transmission of data. User data is transmitted to a user equipment using respective ones of the first symbols in sub-carriers of a physical resource block scheduled for the user equipment which sub-carriers do not transmit the information relating to network operation in the respective ones of the first symbols, and using the second symbols other than the specific symbols in each of the sub-carriers, and transmission on the specific symbols is inhibited in each of the sub-carriers.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2010Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignee: Nokia Siemens Networks OyInventors: Frank Frederiksen, Sabine Rossel

Patent number: 8798654Abstract: It is provided a method, including deciding, based on a previously estimated interference value, whether a user equipment or a sounding reference signal or a channel of a received uplink signal is affected by a colored interference more than a first predefined threshold, wherein colored interference is an interference having a spatial and/or spectral predominance; and suppressing interference rejection combining on the uplink signal if none of the user equipment, the sounding reference signal, and the channel of the received uplink signal is affected more than the first predefined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2009Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: Nokia Siemens Networks OyInventors: Sabine Rössel, Esa Tapani Tiirola, Olli Juhani Piirainen, Ji Jun Luo, Ingo Viering, Mikko Kalevi Taskinen, Timothy Paul, Josef Forster, Markku Juha Vainikka, Carsten Ritterhoff

Patent number: 8009782Abstract: A larger second bandwidth is fitted to a first transmission bandwidth by blanking PRBs at one or both edges of the larger second bandwidth. A first set of control channels is mapped to unblanked PRBs of the second bandwidth using a restricted set of physical cell identities that map only to the unblanked PRBs. A second control channel is punctured so that after it is interleaved and cyclically shifted the punctured CCEs fall on the blanked PRBs, and this second control channel is power compensated for the punctured CCEs. The first set and the second control channels are assigned in view of the puncturing and blanked PRBs, an IFFT for the larger second bandwidth is performed on a signal using zeros at the blanked PRBs, the signal is filtered to the first bandwidth and transmitted over a bandwidth not to exceed the first bandwidth.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2008Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Nokia Siemens Networks OyInventors: Bernd Baumgartner, Frank Frederiksen, Martin Goldberg, Ulrich Rehfuess, Sabine Rössel, Ingo Viering

Patent number: 7143334Abstract: A data sequence consisting of K information bits that has been encoded with the help of a binary convolution code is decoded using a MaxLogMAP algorithm. In a first calculation operation, metric values are calculated accurately in a forwards and backwards direction in a trellis diagram and only some of the values are stored in a memory as interpolation points for an additional calculation operation. The additional calculation operation uses the interpolation points to accurately calculate the metric values that lie between the interpolation points of the first calculation operation. Soft output values are accurately determined for decoding after n operations.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2003Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Lutz Finn, Sabine Rössel, Gerhard Steib
