  • Publication number: 20150361236
Abstract: The invention relates to a foamable bead polymer consisting of (meth)acrylonitrile, (meth)acrylic acid, copolymerizable latent blowing agents and optionally (meth)acrylic esters, the preparation thereof by suspension polymerization and the use thereof for producing foams. Such a bead polymer makes it possible, for example, to carry out in-mould foaming in a simple way and thus produce products having the shape of the desired workpiece directly. These workpieces are highly suitable as components in space, air, water and land vehicles and for other construction elements.

  • Publication number: 20090043044
Abstract: Process for preparation of bead polymers whose average particle size is in the range from 1 ?m to 40 ?m, by dispersing and polymerizing a polymerizable composition in an aqueous phase, where the dispersion stabilized by an aluminium compound is prepared at a shear rate ?103 s?1. A polymerizable composition is used here which, in each case based on its total weight, comprises a) more than 50.0% by weight of at least one compound of the formula (I), ?where the radicals 1R to 6R have definitions according to the Description, b) from 0.1% by weight to 10.0% by weight of at least one crosslinking agent and c) less than 49.9% by weight of at least one compound of the formula (II) ?where the radicals R and 7R to 9R have definitions according to the Description The bead polymers prepared according to the inventive process are particularly suitable for production of mouldings with light-scattering properties.
