  • Patent number: 4571048
Abstract: An automatic focusing system of a photographic camera has a distance measuring device (10) for scanning a predetermined photographic range for producing a distance signal representing the distance from a film plane to the photographic subjects. During the scanning, a value of the distance signal corresponding to the nearest photographic subject is detected and held by a memory (18). The photographic lens is adjusted in accordance with the value held by the memory so as to focus an image of the nearest photographic subject. The automatic focusing system enables the user to take well focused photographs of desired composition by simple operations.

  • Patent number: 4534636
Abstract: In automatic focusing device for a camera in which the photographing lens of the camera is automatically focused on a closest object within the photographing field. An array of light detecting elements receives light reflected from a light emitting section by various objects within the photographing field. A logic circuit detects the output from the detector which represents the closest object in the field and positions the photographing lens of the camera accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4527881
Abstract: A photometric device in which the photographic field is divided into a plurality of photometric regions, photometric outputs are obtained from each region, the difference between the maximum and minimum values among the photometric outputs is compared with the latitude of the film being used, and one of a highlight reference exposure, average exposure and shadow exposure is selected according to the results of the comparison operation. Accordingly, the available latitude of the film being used is employed maximally.
