Abstract: The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery having: an electrode body (80) that is made up of a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer that has a positive electrode active material on the surface of a positive electrode collector, a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer that has a negative electrode active material on the surface of a negative electrode collector, and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a metallic battery case (50) that houses the electrode body and an electrolyte solution; wherein either the positive electrode or the negative electrode is electrically connected to the battery case (50), and a electric resistance value of the electrode active material layer of the electrode on a side not conductively connected to the case (50) is 90-fold or greater than the electric resistance value of the electrode active material layer of the electrode on a side conductively connected
