  • Patent number: 6466659
Abstract: In the existing facsimile apparatuses with telephone function, those having the function of storing the received acoustic signal when the subscriber is absent are known. Hitherto, modulation/demodulation and memory of image data and acoustic data have been executed in independent compositions, and the structure was large and complicated. Besides, various pieces of voice information sent out upon arrival of acoustic signals were also processed in independent compositions, and versatile use was difficult. In the invention, the acoustic data is processed by using image data processing apparatus, and acoustic data is stored in image memory. Moreover, when storing image data and acoustic data in image memory, each memory region is set dynamically. Further, the voice data sent out upon arrival is stored in part of the program memory controlled by the CPU. As a result, the structure is reduced in size and simplified, and complicated combined processing of voice signal being sent out may be realized.

  • Patent number: 6437814
Abstract: Roll-like ink sheet is divided in a virtual manner into a plural number q of groups in the sub-scanning direction of ink sheet. In each of the groups, a plural number p of printing areas displaced in the sub-scanning direction are formed in a virtual manner. Print areas are partitioned in a virtual manner into a plurality of blocks in both main scanning direction and sub-scanning direction. Second accumulated printing ratio &eegr;2 for each of the blocks according to an image to be printed is calculated using first accumulated printing ratio &eegr;1 for each of the blocks. In a plurality of printing areas consisting of only blocks having second accumulated printing ratio &eegr;2 equal to or less than predetermined value &eegr;0, evaluation value for each of the print areas, dependent upon second accumulated printing ratio &eegr;2, is calculated. Any print area having a small consumption amount of ink is used for printing according to the evaluation value.

  • Patent number: 5359677
Abstract: An image reader includes a scanner for reading a two-dimensional image and converting the read data into two-dimensional image data, a memory for storing the two-dimensional image data, correction circuit for correcting the two-dimensional image data so that the direction of character strings included in the two-dimensional image data coincides with the main scanning direction, and a coding circuit for reading the corrected two-dimensional image data from the memory in the order along the main scanning direction. The facsimile machine includes such an image reader, and a transmission circuit for transmitting the coded image data to another facsimile machine.

  • Patent number: 5276441
Abstract: A communication charge management unit of a communication unit in the Integrated Services Digital Network comprises a memory (11; 21; 41) for storing the communication charge for each of plurality of identification information. The identification information is one of or a combination of user identification information specifying the user of the communication unit, a sub address specifying each of the plurality of terminal units which the communication unit includes, and communication mode identification information specifying each of the plurality of communication modes of the communication unit. The management unit comprises a control accumulating unit (7; 27; 43) updating the corresponding communication charge stored in the memory, in response to the identification information generated at the time of calling by the communication unit and the communication charge information transmitted from a center at the time of communication termination.

  • Patent number: 5191438
Abstract: Disclosed is a facsimile device enabling data transmission in high efficiency independently of the direction in which an original is drawn into the facsimile device. The facsimile device includes a scanner for reading the original, an image memory for storing a read image signal, a circuit for detecting the direction of text lines of a read pixel signal, a circuit for determining whether or not the text line direction is close to a longitudinal direction or a lateral direction of arrangement of memory cells in the image memory, a circuit for executing an operation for rotating the image signal by a predetermined angle when a determination is made that the text line direction is closer to the longitudinal direction, a compression circuit for reading the rotated image signal in the lateral direction of the arrangement of the memory cells, to compress the read image signal, and a transmission circuit for transmitting the compressed signal onto lines.

  • Patent number: 5164743
Abstract: When a number of exothermic elements arranged linearly are used for printing, driving data are inputted to the gate circuits of each exothermic element, and the gate circuits are controlled by the strobe signals in the conducting/nonconducting state. The circuit gates are divided into groups and the strobe signals different for each group are inputted in sequence. At printing, when there is the group having a relatively small number or no exothermic elements being heated and driven, and the strobe signal is given to each group successively for any groups, the necessary driving time may be wasted. The operating speed many be improved if a plurality of strobe signals are outputted in parallel when the number of exothermic elements being heated and driven is relatively small, and if the corresponding strobe signals are stopped when there is no exothermic element, and outputting the next strobe signals immediately in both cases.

  • Patent number: 5105348
Abstract: A printing apparatus prints image on thermosensible paper by means of thermosensible elements (H1 to Hn). When printing data is supplied from a central processing circuit (28) to a printing data correcting circuit (52), the printing data correcting circuit performs signal processing referring to printing data supplied in response to shifting operation of a shift register (S). The printing data is latched in a latch circuit (53) for each printing operation and the latched printing data is stored in the shift register and supplied to the thermosensible elements, whereby the printing data is printed on the thermosensible paper driven by a pulse motor (57).

  • Patent number: 5077618
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus has a single conveying roller in it, above which an image sensor is set and below which a printing head is set. Pressing pins are set respectively near the upper and lower ends of components supporting the conveying roller to freely rotate. In transmission, the lower pressing pins keep away the printing head from the conveying roller and the image sensor presses an original document onto the conveying roller. In reception, the upper pressing pins keep away the image sensor from the conveying roller and the printing head presses the recording paper onto the conveying roller. In this way, structure of the facsimile apparatus is simplified.
