Abstract: A method for producing inexpensively in a high yield a halogen-containing aromatic compound, particularly a halogen-containing aromatic compound incorporating therein a bromodifluoroalkyl group, and a halogen-containing naphthalene compound useful as a raw material for a resin excelling in heat resistance, chemical resistance and water repellency, and having a low dielectric constant and a low refractivity are provided.

Abstract: Phosphor layers are formed on the inner surface of a face plate. An electron source device that emits electrons to excite the phosphor layers is provided on the inner surface of a base plate. The electron source device comprises an alumina substrate that has a number of small through holes. Electron-emitting material is buried in the through holes. A reference electrode is formed on the lower surface of the alumina substrate and contacts the electron-emitting material. A gate electrode is formed on the upper surface of the substrate and insulated from the electron-emitting material. The gate electrode is configured to concentrate an electron field of the electron-emitting material by virtue of an voltage applied between the reference electrode and the gate electrode, thereby to cause the electron-emitting material to emit electrons toward the phosphor layers.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the production of an aromatic compound (II) having a (CH2)nCX2Br group (wherein X represents a fluorine or chlorine atom and the X's may be same or different, and n is an integer in the range of 0 to 4) by the reaction of photo-bromination of an aromatic compound (I) having a (CH2)nCX2H group (wherein X and n are as defined above) with a brominating agent, wherein the photo-bromination reaction is carried out while removing hydrogen bromide generated in the reaction system and/or in an atmosphere of a low oxygen content, and a halogen-containing naphthalene compound represented by the following formula (1): wherein Y represents —CF2H, —CF2Br, or —CHO group, Z1 and Z2 independently represent a halogen atom, and p and q independently are an integer in the range of 0 to 3.

Abstract: In an oil-operated tensioner, oil from s reservoir formed in the tensioner housing passes through a check valve to a chamber behind a spring-urged plunger, which protrudes from the housing to maintain tension in a chain or belt. Instead of the usual press-fit cup for closing the opening of the reservoir, a flat or convex cover plate is fixed to the housing for closing the opening in the reservoir.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for the isomerization reaction from quadricyclanes to norbornadienes in a conversion system from light energy to heat energy which comprises cyclopropenylidene palladium complex represented by the formula, ##STR1## wherein R represents hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl or cyano group and X represents a halogen atom, and further relates to a fixed catalyst for the isomerization reaction from quadricyclanes to norbornadienes in a conversion system from light energy to heat energy which is obtained by adsorption-fixing a porphyrin Co(II) complex represented by the formula, ##STR2## wherein R.sub.2 represents a lower alkyl group and R.sub.3 represents a hydroxycarbonyl lower alkyl group, to a modified inorganic carrier in which a polyamine sulfone comprising a recurring unit represented by the formula, ##STR3## wherein R.sub.1 represents a lower alkyl group and X represents a halogen atom, has been adsorbed on a solid inorganic carrier.
