  • Patent number: 6652109
Abstract: A surface light emitting device includes a light source and a light introduction plate having a structure for causing the light from the light source to be incident from a side end surface and to outgo from a light outgoing surface. Grooves are formed in a stripe shape on an opposing surface opposite to the light outgoing surface, and the grooves are formed deeper as they have a longer distance from the light source, and the difference between the depths of adjacent grooves is made larger as they have a distance longer from the light source. A method of manufacturing the surface light emitting device and a liquid crystal device including the surface light emitting device are also disclosed. With this arrangement, the surface light emitting device can obtain a sufficiently quantity of light at any position and the liquid crystal device can display an image in uniform brightness.

Abstract: A color filter substrate for use in a reflective liquid crystal display, and a reflective liquid crystal display using the above-described color filter substrate are provided. The color filter substrate is provided with a substrate, a reflective layer formed on the substrate, and a color filter layer formed on the reflective layer. The color substrate is arranged to oppose another substrate with a sealing material therebetween and a liquid crystal layer is filled in the gap between the two substrates. The color filter layer of the color filter substrate is formed in a region inside the sealing material, which includes at least an effective display area and a margin area which is outside the effective display area and yet part of visible area so as to reduce light reflected at the reflective layer. A reflective liquid crystal display using the above-described color filter substrate is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6330046
Abstract: A highly reliable reflection type liquid crystal display device having an organic film is disclosed in which generation of cracks in an electrode layer caused by the sinking in of the terminals of a driving element are prevented. A reliable electrical connection is thereby established between the driving element and the first electrode layer and the organic film is prevented from being separated from the substrate. The reflection type liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates, a seal material held between the pair of substrates, and a liquid crystal layer sealed in the space surrounded by the pair of substrates and the seal material. The organic film, which has a plurality of protrusions and recesses, a metal reflection film, an overcoat film, and first electrode layers sequentially formed on the surface of one of the pair of substrates. The organic film and the metal reflection film are formed in a display region but are not formed in a driving element mounting region.

  • Patent number: 5906188
Abstract: In an accumulator type fuel injection control system, a fuel pressure setting means determines a basic fuel injection pressure from both fuel injection volume and engine speed, and when the temperature of a fuel discharged to a fuel tank is high, a fuel pressure correcting means subtracts, from the basic fuel injection pressure, a pressure reduction quantity which has been set according to the fuel temperature. Further, a fuel injection timing correcting means adds, to a basic fuel injection timing, an advance quantity which has been set according to the pressure reduction quantity and thereby determines a corrected fuel injection timing.

  • Patent number: 4982340
Abstract: An inference processing system comprises a plurality of processors assigned for nodes of a semantic network respectively to carry out parallel processing. Each of the processors stores tables and linking information. The tables are made by arranging rules and prepared for goals respectively. Each table contains the names of links to follow when a certain goal is given and markers for specifying the kinds of the links. In the table, the link names and markers are set as outputs with respect to the given goal as an input. The linking information contains information of links connected to a node for which a corresponding one of the processors is assigned. When the goal and a marker are inputted to any one of the processors, the processor finds an output marker and output links in the tables and linking information and outputs the output marker to the output links, thus achieving an inference process.

  • Patent number: 4815005
Abstract: A semantic network machine is applied to an artificial intelligence computer for performing inferential retrieval with respect to a knowledge base. A main associative memory stores the knowledge base consisting of knowledge data arranged to form a semantic network. Each knowledge data consists of a set of an object, an attribute, and a value. A sub associative memory is connected in parallel with the main memory and stores specific knowledge data including "is-a" attributes of the knowledge data. In an inferential retrieval mode, when a question associated with a given object is input, an initial retrieval condition for retrieving, from the knowledge base, knowledge data necessary for answering the question is defined.
