  • Patent number: 5263993
Abstract: A die casting machine is provided with a mold, which comprises stationary and movable mold halves between which a mold cavity is formed and which is clamped by a horizontal clamping force and a molten bath is injected vertically, and the die casting machine comprises an injection sleeve secured to parting surface portions of the stationary and movable mold halves, an injection plunger device disposed below the injection sleeve concentrically therewith for injecting the molten bath into the injection sleeve and press-feeding the molten bath into the mold cavity, and connecting tie rods operatively connecting the injection plunger device to the mold halves. The connecting tie rods each has one end engaged with the parting surface portions of the stationary and movable mold halves so as to suspend the injection plunger device by the stationary and movable mold halves.

  • Patent number: 5191929
Abstract: A molten metal supplying apparatus has an electromagnetic pump for supplying molten metal under electromagnetic forces through a molten metal feed tube to a die-casting machine. An adapter is provided for maintaining molten metal therein at the same surface level as that of molten metal which is kept in a molten metal holding furnace at a prescribed temperature. The molten metal holding furnace is movable toward and away from a molten metal receiving member of the die-casing machine. An oxidized layer is prevented from being formed in the molten metal as it is fed through the feed tube, and the feed tube can easily be inspected and serviced. An orifice member is disposed in the feed tube for supplying even a small amount of molten metal accurately to the molten metal receiving member.

  • Patent number: 4988267
Abstract: An electromagnetic pump for use in a pressure-feed device for feeding molten metal from a furnace to a casting machine includes a core protection tube housing a cylindrical core of ceramic for protecting the core from erosion by contact with molten metal, a duct accommodating the core protection tube with a space defined between the duct and the core protection tube, and a coil disposed around the duct and energizable for generating a moving magnetic field to feed molten metal filled in the space. The core protection tube is supported in the duct by a pair of support members having confronting end faces, respectively, fitted in the respective opposite ends of the core protection tube for holding opposite ends of the core.

  • Patent number: 4848603
Abstract: A pressurized holding furnace having an open feeding chamber is provided with a pressure chamber having a pressure device for pressurizing the pressure chamber and a discharge device for releasing the pressure. The pressure chamber is provided at a lower position than the lowest level of the molten metal in the pressure chamber with an inlet port of a feeding pipe and at a higher position than the highest level of the molten metal in the pressure chamber with an electromagnetic pump.

  • Patent number: 4793596
Abstract: A method of rapidly discharging a molten metal from its supply system of a pressurized holding furnace having an open feeding chamber provided at one side of a pressure chamber with a suction pipe of a delivery pump, said pressure chamber having an inlet valve and an outlet valve for a pressure gas, in which the pressure chamber is pressurized to keep a constant level of the molten metal in the feeding chamber for maintaining a constant suction head of the delivery pump is disclosed, wherein the suction pipe is situated at a higher position than such a level of the molten metal in the feeding chamber that is lowered when a pressure in the pressure chamber is released while the supply system including the delivery pump is positioned upwardly above the suction pipe, and in that the outlet valve of the pressure chamber is opened when the molten metal is discharged from the supply system for allowing the molten metal to return into the pressure chamber, thereby rapidly lowering the metal level of the feeding cham

  • Patent number: 4559991
Abstract: In a method and system of controlling an injection molding machine in which molten metal in an injection cylinder is injected into a metal mold by an injection plunger operated by an oil pressure operator and in which pressurized oil is supplied to the oil pressure operator through adjustable valve means actuated by actuator means, various factors relating to an injection condition are measured and an injection command signal is calculated based on the measured factors for providing a predetermined injection pattern. The actuator means is operated by the injection command signal so as to adjust the adjustable valve means to a degree of opening necessary to establish an optimum injection condition.

  • Patent number: 4510371
Abstract: A surface of a linear magnetic bar is subjected to such high density energy as a fine beam of laser rays, electrons, ions, plasma or an electric current to change permeability of portions subjected to the high density energy so as to form graduations spaced uniformly. A magnetic sensor is used to detect variation in the permeability, thus measuring movement, speed or acceleration of the scale relative to the magnetic sensor. The scale may be formed on a movable portion of a machine, for example a piston rod of a die casting machine or an injection molding machine.
