  • Publication number: 20220090726
Abstract: A polyarylene sulfide (PAS) foam layer that circumscribes a hollow inner tube and may have a 50% or greater density reduction relative to the density of an un-foamed PAS polymer material and/or a 50% or greater thermal conductivity reduction relative to the thermal conductivity of an un-foamed PAS polymer material and/or 50% or greater thermal effusivity reduction relative to the thermal effusivity of an un-foamed PAS polymer material. The PAS foam layer may have a low density (e.g., less than 0.67 g/cc) and/or a low thermal conductivity (e.g., anywhere from 0.017 W/(m-K) to 0.145 W/(m-K)) and/or a low thermal effusivity (e.g., less than 316 Ws1/2/m2/K, optionally anywhere from 38 Ws1/2/m2/K to 316 Ws1/2/m2/K) even at high temperatures (e.g., above 400 degrees Fahrenheit (° F.) (about 204 degrees Celsius (° C.)). Such a PAS foam layer may have characteristics appropriate for use as part of a steam hose.

  • Publication number: 20210331912
Abstract: An electrostatic transducer includes a substrate oriented in a plane, a fixed electrode supported by the substrate, and a moveable electrode supported by the substrate, spaced from the fixed electrode in a first direction parallel to the plane, and configured for movement in a second direction transverse to the plane, such that an extent to which the fixed and moveable electrodes overlap changes during the movement. The fixed and moveable electrodes comprise one or more of a plurality of conductive layers, the plurality of conductive layers including at least three layers. The fixed electrode includes a stacked arrangement of two or more spaced apart conductive layers of the plurality of conductive layers.

  • Publication number: 20200309591
Abstract: A vibration transducer module for detecting a vibratory signal, comprising a base, a spring connected to the base at a first location, a mass mechanically coupled to the spring at a second location remote from the first location, and a wall configured to position a first wall electrode and a second wall electrode a selected distance from the first location, the conductive element positioned and sized to contact the first wall electrode and the second wall electrode. The mass comprises a conductive element, and an energy harvester to provide a first voltage signal. The energy harvester may comprise a piezoelectric material or be construct as a SAW device. The module may be combined with a rectifier and an oscillator to form a vibration sensor.
