    Abstract: An electronic device and volume adjusting method detect ambient light and generate corresponding intensity signals via a sensor. Programs in a storage device, executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to receive and sample light intensity signals and determine whether the ambient light level is changing. Time passing is counted if the ambient light level is changing, until the ambient light level stops changing. The counting of time stops when ambient light level stops changing and the counted time period is compared with a preset time period, a longer time period causes a volume adjusting command to be sent to a playback output device.

    Abstract: An alarm control method for turning off an alarm for an electronic device includes the following steps: detecting that an alarm by an alarm unit of an electronic device being activated; converting an intensity of prevailing ambient light directed by an optical sensor of the electronic device to ambient light signals; determining whether an ambient light value has changed based on the ambient light signals; and determining whether a change in the ambient light value is equal to or greater than a first predetermined value if the ambient light value has changed, and in event turning off upon such determination. An electronic device using the method is also provided.

    Abstract: A page zooming method for an electronic device includes, firstly, generating operation signals in response to a touch operation applied on a page displayed on a touch screen of the electronic device. Secondly, one touch operation is determined to be a zoom-triggering gesture when a duration of time of pressing the touch screen on one touching point is longer than a first preset duration of time. Thirdly, one slide operation is identified according to the operation signals generated by the touch screen in response to the slide operation. Next, a zooming type and a zooming ratio are determined according to the zoom-triggering gesture and the slide operation. Lastly, the page is zoomed according to the zooming type and zooming ratio. An electronic device using the page zooming method is also provided.
